Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesIntertech Plastics is seeking a Project Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Denver, Colorado. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between product design and manufacturing by leading engineering projects from concept through production. You'll collaborate directly with customers, toolmakers, quality, production, and program management to develop innovative plastic components that are manufacturable, cost effective, and built for quality.

PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITY:- Lead engineering activities for new product development and product launches.
- Design plastic components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
- Support customer product development through Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations.
- Coordinate engineering activities with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet customer quality requirements.
- Support tooling development, validation, and production readiness activities.
- Drive continuous improvement in product design, manufacturing processes, and project execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Project ManagementManage multiple engineering projects simultaneously from concept through production.
Develop and maintain project timelines and engineering deliverables.
Coordinate engineering activities with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
Participate in customer meetings and technical design reviews.
Support engineering change management throughout the product lifecycle.
Product DesignDesign injection molded plastic components and assemblies using CAD software.
Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
Apply GD&T standards to engineering documentation.
Recommend material selections based on product performance and manufacturing requirements.
Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses and design reviews.
Tooling & Manufacturing SupportReview mold designs and provide recommendations to optimize manufacturability.
Work with toolmakers during mold development and qualification.
Support mold trials, first article inspections, process validations, and production launches.
Troubleshoot product, tooling, and manufacturing issues.
Assist Process Engineers during product transfers into production.
Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs while improving quality.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Recommend design improvements based on production feedback.
Support corrective and preventive action activities (CAPA).
Customer SupportServe as the technical engineering contact for assigned customer projects.
Present engineering solutions during customer meetings.
Resolve technical issues throughout product development.
Maintain strong working relationships with customers and suppliers.
On-Site: This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Denver, CO location.
Qualifications- Strong knowledge of injection molded plastic part design.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience supporting tooling development and product launches.
- Strong project management and organizationalskills.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of engineering experiencein plastics manufacturing or injection molding.
CompensationIn compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $85,000 - $92,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
