Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Controls Specialist to join our team at K&A Power Group in Berlin, Connecticut. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:
  • Maintain and manage Project Schedules from initiation through closeout that primarily support the Transmission Organization: Capital Projects, Maintenance Projects and Distribution Projects Managed by Transmission.
  • Support Different Management Organizations (Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Permitting, Others) by having properly Resource Loaded schedules, with reflective logic and duration that will inform about resources over allocation, under absorption, ability to move forward in the project due to internal / external constraints.
  • Develop, maintain, analyze, and manage project activities and resources to the level necessary to support project and department requirements and needs.
  • Implements and stewards Baseline Management for both cost and schedule to track variances from approved cost budgets, schedules and design scopes of work.
  • Ensures project baselines in cost, schedule and scope are established and monitored against actual project performance.
  • Ensures desired Project Cost Control / Baseline Management philosophies and processes are reflected in the newly implemented Project Management Information System (PMIS) e-Builder.
  • Communicate project status and resource loading with team members and management.
  • Anticipate project plan changes and advise team members and management of potential project impacts, conflicts and solutions for meeting project timeline/milestone objectives
  • Monitor and perform schedule updates based on various Owner's metrics, such as Schedule Adherence, Schedule Health, and Executive Dashboard reports.
  • Coordinate internal and external reallocation resources to accommodate changes and conflicts.
  • Evaluate key functional department forecasts to assure desired project performance results are achieved.
  • Initiate actions and assist in developing alternative solutions resolving potential project impacts, resource constraints, schedule conflicts and cost overruns.
  • Provide consulting and support services in the areas of project controls, including leading and directing project cost management and forecasting techniques.
  • Provides, or assists in providing, training in Project Cost Control / Baseline Management methodologies, procedures and systems to project managers, consultants, contractors and other Eversource staff.
  • Coordinate intra and inter departmental activities to assure adherence to schedule and established guidelines.
  • Prepare and facilitate weekly meetings reviewing project status and identify actions to resolve project impacts and schedule conflicts.
  • Supporting the adherence of Cost Control and Accounting processes
  • Collaborating with Owner Senior Management to identify process improvements
  • Help align estimating, cost breakdown, work breakdown structure information data
  • Interacts with Eversource Estimating Group to 1) ensure new estimates are developed with the proper WBS coding, and 2) actual project cost data is fed back to the group at the conclusion of projects.
  • Works with the Investment Planning, Contract Administration and Planning / Scheduling Groups to ensure cost management is being performed at the project and program levels; this to include cost tracking, forecasting and reporting CAPEX & PIS, and variance analysis.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all cost information including confirmation that costs have been properly coded and allocated to project budgets per the WBS.
  • Monitors actual project costs / contingency / commitments relative to budget and forecast.
  • Reviews, evaluates and reports on trends and their impact on project forecasts.
  • Presents and discusses cost information, and maintains good working relationships with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and the management team.

What we're looking for:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive-related electric utility or other related industry experience, with transmission facilities construction management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent 10 years of relevant experience is recommended.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced data analysis, financial modeling, and reporting capabilities.
  • Experience with utility capital investment business models is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated financial management experience, including:
    • Cash flow forecasting and management for capital projects, including both internal labor and contractor-supported work.
    • Purchase Order (PO) financial tracking and oversight.
    • Financial risk assessment and mitigation to support achievement of investment objectives.
    • Capital portfolio financial planning, monitoring, and performance management.
    • Identification, evaluation, and communication of financial risks and opportunities.
  • Strong data management, analysis, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, particularly between Project Management and Financial Management organizations.
  • Experience preparing and delivering executive and leadership-level reporting, including financial performance, portfolio status, risks, and investment outcomes

Pay Range: $80,000-$100,000/yearly

The salary range for this role considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to technical ability, experience and training, licenses and certifications, and other related skillsets. The disclosed range is an estimate and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
