Full Job Description
Job Overview
About the Role
We're looking for a senior Programming & Commissioning Engineer to build our programming and commissioning function from the ground up. This isn't a role that steps into an existing playbook - you'll design the runbooks, standards, and processes the rest of the team will use to deliver consistent, high-quality system commissioning across sites. As the program matures, you'll grow into a leadership role managing a team of engineers.
What You'll Do
• Design, build, and continuously refine programming and commissioning runbooks and standard operating procedures from scratch, establishing the foundation for how the team operates.
• Program and commission access control and video surveillance systems, primarily using Genetec, ensuring installations meet design specifications and quality standards.
• Partner closely with Program Managers and cross-functional systems teams to align commissioning schedules with broader project timelines.
• Develop training materials and mentor engineers on commissioning best practices as the team scales.
• Travel to project sites as needed to lead or support commissioning activities.
• Evaluate and integrate additional systems and platforms beyond Genetec as project needs evolve.
• Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current processes and drive continuous improvement across the commissioning lifecycle.
• As the program grows, take on direct management responsibilities for a team of commissioning engineers.
What We're Looking For
• 6-7+ years of experience in security systems engineering, with hands-on programming and commissioning experience.
• Strong working expertise in Genetec Access Control and Video Management systems.
• Comfort and flexibility working across other access control and video surveillance platforms beyond Genetec.
• Demonstrated experience creating processes, documentation, or standards from the ground up, not just following existing ones.
• Strong communication skills, with experience coordinating across program managers, field technicians, and vendors.
• Willingness and ability to travel for on-site commissioning work.
• Prior mentorship or people-leadership experience, or clear readiness to grow into a management role.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role based out of our office, with travel required for on-site commissioning work as projects demand.
Compensation
Estimated Pay Range: 124K-195K/year
Exact compensation and offers of employment are dependent on circumstances of each case and will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, licenses or certifications, and location.
