Overview

The Reactor Plant Planning Yard program provides engineering, design, and logistics life cycle support to the entire commissioned submarine fleet, Moored Training Ships, and S8G Prototype, primarily through maintenance and modernization to increase operational availability and capability. The organization maintains technical expertise for nuclear and non-nuclear propulsion plant systems and equipment.

 

The program office group touches all aspects of work done throughout the Reactor Plant Planning Yard program, providing project management and oversight, requirement conformance, and innovative approaches to problems and improvement initiatives.

 

This position is for a Reactor Plant Planning Yard Program Representative and requires constant interface with Naval Reactors, NNL, BPMI, and several EB organizations, including, but not limited to, engineering and design personnel. The selected individual must possess strong communication skills and be able to operate with minimal supervision.

 

The selected individual will be responsible for program office functions including:

  • Providing direction regarding performing to program requirements and goals, estimating development efforts with engineering, and identifying and mitigating risks
  • Managing multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders driving product issuance through budget and schedule monitoring and oversight for program work
  • Reviewing program products such as drawings, alteration instructions, liaison inquiries, and other correspondence
  • Understanding, interpreting, developing, and revising program procedures and guidance documents
  • Collaborating across multiple departments to resolve programmatic and technical issues
  • Initiating and implementing process improvements
  • Creating, maintaining, and analyzing program metrics with respect to cost, schedule, and technical performance
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Associates degree, or 5 years’ planning yard experience"
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, or currently possess, an active DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related Technical Degree (B.S. in Applied Mathematics, IT, Physics, etc.)
  • Proficiency (2+ years of experience) with NNPP Net
  • Proficiency with ARTEMIS, EVMS, and Commitment Reporting
  • Experience working with NAVSEA and/or prime contractors
Skills
  • Project management experience
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills (written and verbal) and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
