Job Title: Program Quality Engineer

Job Category: Engineering and Technical Support

Responsibilities:

  • Support all phases of product realization interfacing with design, programs, supply chain and production to ensure high quality deliverables of high reliability space and ground-based systems.

  • Develop a quality plan for assigned products or processes with corresponding metrics.  Provide guidance to quality control inspectors in execution of the quality plan.

  • Act as MRB chair for designated program(s), driving cross functional disposition through entire MRB lifecycle

  • Lead and participate in internal and external corrective action activities, driving the corrective action process through to closure

  • Identify and implement process improvements to meet program-specific and corporate goals.

  • Support program quality and quality management execution of program requirements in the manufacturing and inspection areas; including reporting on quality performance on designated programs

  • Conduct regular process audits of lab and production areas, including incoming, in-process and final inspection, ensuring conformance to program requirements, company processes, and industry standards (e.g. ISO9001, AS9100, IPC, J-STD)

  • Create and conduct training on quality assurance topics for all company personnel, as appropriate.

  • Support overall Quality Management System compliance, execution, improvement, and sustainment.  Perform internal audits as assigned

  • Provide surge capacity in quality functions as needed, as well as other duties as assigned by direct supervisor


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • BS in Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in electronic, optoelectronic, and/or opto-mechanical product quality assurance; working in the aerospace & defense industry

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Solid knowledge of ISO 9001, IPC, J-STD. 

  • Excellent work habits (proactiveness, sense of responsibility, organized, self-motivated, etc.).

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with dispositioning hardware for quality related issues in a manufacturing facility.

  • Familiarity with the Material Review Board (MRB) process.

  • Familiarity with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications.

  • Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques.

  • Be a critical thinker.


Desired:

  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CSQP), or other similar professional certifications.

  • Familiarity with AS9100 a plus

  • Prior experience delivering hardware for space-flight programs.
