The TMX GTS Office governs the project management practice within an environment that executes multiple projects across a diverse set of portfolios (SDLC, Infrastructure and integration of 3rd party products). We achieve excellence and quality in delivery to our customers by standardizing our project management services and consolidating project oversight for project performance metrics. The GTS Office endeavors to improve project performance via establishing standards of practice and lowering project costs by minimizing project overhead, reducing process redundancies and by leveraging our specialized project management skills and expertise. The GTS Office educates our PMs on TMX PM practices and ensures that they fully understand and execute upon the expectations of the role.
The Program/Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, delivery and execution of projects for the entire delivery life cycle, applying established TMX standards and best practices. The PM plays a leadership role to ensure projects are successfully delivered on time, on budget, with good quality while making certain clients are put first and the goals of the program are met.
This role is hybrid (2 - 3 days/week in the office) - based in Montreal, QC
Key Accountabilities:
Governance and Risk Mitigation
Framework Ownership: Establishing the reporting structures, meeting cadences, and documentation standards for all sub-projects.
Macro-Risk Management: Identifying risks that a single project manager might miss, such as regulatory shifts, market volatility, or organizational fatigue.
Issue Escalation: Acting as the "filter" for the executive team—solving what they can at the program level and escalating only the most critical issues to leadership.
Stakeholder Orchestration
Communication Planning: Ensuring the right people get the right information at the right time
Expectation Management: Softening the blow when timelines shift and building buy-in when the program requires organizational change.
Cross-Project Dependency Management
Mapping the Web: Identifying interdependencies across different workstreams to prevent bottlenecks.
Resource Arbitration: Deciding which project gets the "star developer" or the extra budget when resources are tight.
Conflict Resolution: Managing the "tug-of-war" between different project managers who may have competing interests.
Strategic Benefits Realization
Defining Success: Establishing the KPIs and metrics that prove the program is actually working.
Alignment: Ensuring that as the business landscape changes, the program’s goals pivot to remain relevant.
Value Tracking: Monitoring whether the combined output of all projects is actually delivering the promised "bottom-line" value.
Must Have(s):
Minimum 10 years’ experience managing initiatives for Financial Institutions in a regulated environment
Experience with end to end project delivery (includes managing both the business and IT phases of a project) of projects in excess of $2M
Experience delivering large projects in the financial markets sector
Undergraduate degree in related discipline or equivalent PM work experience within the financial services industry
Ability to successfully navigate and deliver within a fully matrixed environment that is complex and somewhat ambiguous.
Demonstrated leadership, with the ability to motivate and effectively manage teams
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Excellent written and verbal communications
Excellent relationship building abilities and understanding that partnership is key to successful delivery
Nice to Have:
PMP certification
Prior experience using Workday as a PPM
