The Program (Product) Engineer II is responsible for managing and monitoring the manufacturing-related processes for carbon-carbon brakes for aerospace applications, qualifying new technology and aircraft programs into production, and providing hands-on leadership in the identification of sources of process/product variation.
The Program Engineer will also identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, typically aimed at improving product performance, reducing process variation and product cost. They will work directly with all levels of staff from production floor to senior leadership to ensure production material meets all necessary quality standards while still maintaining on-time delivery goals.
What You Will Do:- Collaborates with plant and engineering staff to identify possible chemical or materials engineering tool-related problems.
- Designs and plans layout of equipment to optimize the chemical and materials engineering processes.
- Ongoing production monitoring and troubleshooting of problems associated with all assigned aircraft programs.
- Performs laboratory studies of steps in the manufacturing of new products and tests proposed processes in small scale operations such as a pilot plant to ensure feasibility and viability.
- Determines appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design.
- Monitors material performance and evaluate material deterioration to ensure required specifications are met.
- Designs, develops and tests metallic and non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
- Research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes.
- Analyze, research, design and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
- Performs material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
- Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, nonmetallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
- May review and approve material processing procedures.
- Continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing cost and reducing process variation.
- Liaison interdepartmentally within Pueblo regarding production issues associated with their aircraft programs.
- Liaison between Troy, the other carbon sites, and Pueblo regarding support/information associated with their aircraft programs.
- Responsible for maintaining and/or writing of specs and drawings for all assigned aircraft programs at the AMF level and below.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications You Must Have:- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Experience as a chemical, process, or product engineer.
Qualifications You Prefer:- Formal education in Chemical or Material Science Engineering
- 2-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing engineering environment
- Aerospace Manufacturing experience
- Aircraft program and/or project management experience
- Data mining experience
- Experience in technical writing and management presentations

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
