Job Description

Position Summary:

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and facilitates integrated team resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives. Monitors project progress, assesses and mitigates risk, and solves problems. Integrates and communicates status with project team, management, and customers. Develop priorities for project team and expediters to meet program and organizational goals. Regularly mentor and coach lower level Program Managers to establish best practices within the Program Management department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead regular project team meetings to discuss progress, identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks, collect status, communicate changes and urgent needs, and encourage cross-functional cooperation
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and implement program milestone and delivery schedules incorporating customer, supplier, and internal delivery dates
  • Coordinate with Planning, Production Control, Procurement, Quality, and New Business/Estimating during program start-up to develop and communicate program first lot tracking plan
  • Develop risk assessment and mitigation plans; Coordinate work-around and expediting plans internally and communicate progress with team members, customer, and management
  • Manage and/or facilitate customer/program relationships from contract award through life cycle of a program
  • Manage contractual commitments, identify cost issues to meet expected program margins, ensure assure alignment to contractual terms and provide strategic recommendations
  • Manage customer interface, host visits, and travel occasionally
  • Conduct "lessons learned" activities and provide process improvement feedback internally and to customer
  • Review Program Metrics and align with departmental KPIs
  • Make strategic business recommendations for your programs.
  • May occasionally perform special projects; Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of Tier II manufacturing and assembly processes, products, customers, and supplier interfacing principles.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills and the ability to lead group meetings.
  • Ability to mentor junior level Program Managers.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and proactive in implementing solutions across functional areas and various levels of management
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office and applicable MRP modules)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proactive communicator who can clearly articulate results and needs across all levels
  • Prepare and present Program Management Review presentations
  • Able to establish and communicate clear priorities and to influence others to support and act on those priorities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
  • Attention to detail


Required Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or relevant field
  • 5+ years directly related experience, preferably in Aerospace or Manufacturing.
  • Any similar combination of education and work experience.
  • PMP Certification preferred
