Position Information:

Job Title: Program Manager - Community Relations

Locations: Orange, CT

Salary Range: $116,640 - $145,800

Schedule: On Site - Office

Job Summary

This role serves as the primary liaison with community organizations, business groups, local government officials, and other external stakeholders within an assigned area. The position supports company initiatives, economic and community development activities, emergency preparedness requirements, and stakeholder engagement objectives. Working closely with internal and external partners, this role manages politically sensitive issues, supports regulatory commitments, and helps strengthen the company's presence within the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the company in business, charitable, civic, and economic development organizations to strengthen community partnerships and brand awareness.
  • Evaluate requests for sponsorships, corporate donations, foundation funding, and tax credit program participation, including related reporting and administration.
  • Oversee department budget administration, expenditure tracking, purchase orders, invoices, and related financial processes for assigned programs.
  • Administer community development, volunteer, records management, sustainability reporting, and regulatory documentation activities for the business area.
  • Support economic development efforts by preparing proposals, engaging prospective business customers, and promoting development programs with key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate sponsored volunteer and employee events, nonprofit engagements, executive activities, customer issue follow up, and stakeholder communications across assigned programs.
  • Identify politically sensitive issues and opportunities, advise management on potential impacts, and recommend appropriate response strategies.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in customer service, utility operations, business relationships, public affairs, government affairs, communications, or related fields.
  • Experience interacting directly with government, business, and community leaders.
  • Effective verbal, written, public speaking, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the electric and natural gas utility industry and service territories.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to changing conditions, and support crisis management activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of economic and community development programs, nonprofit funding processes, or related stakeholder engagement activities.
