Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for Director, Microelectronics position located at our Redondo Beach or Linthicum, MD  facility, requiring travel to other Northrop Grumman facilities, customer, and supplier sites as needed. This position reports directly to the Mission Next Division VP General Manager and will be a full-time onsite position.

As the Microelectronics Director this leader will be tasked with developing and unifying the organizations efforts to continually advance customer impactful microelectronic manufacturing technology programs and relevant nascent scientific programs.  With multiple trusted foundries and advanced packaging operations across the country at Northrop Grumman, all delivering cutting-edge, mission critical solutions there is an opportunity to ensure our capabilities are well aligned to tomorrow’s program needs through the pursuit and execution of manufacturing centric development programs. In addition to our internal capabilities, Northrop Grumman has far-reaching, collaborative and active engagements with almost every part of the US based microelectronic industrial base.  The Microelectronics Director will develop and execute the strategies for these program pursuits, both as a sole performer and with our collaborative partners.  These programs can be focused on enhancing manufacturing readiness as well as transitioning low-TRL technologies towards a base manufacturing capability.  This will require strategic alignment between Northrop Grumman, our partners and our customer base.  This position will be responsible for the overall capture and execution of programs in this technology field, coordinating with existing teams at Northrop Grumman.  This is a collaborative leadership position with routine executive interactions both internally and externally, and the successful candidate must display consistent exemplary judgment and embody Northrop Grumman Values and Leadership Behaviors. The successful candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels of customer and executive leadership and should be able to coordinate including geographically dispersed teams.  The Microelectronics Director will be expected to engage across these functional areas to include, but not limited to:  

·Business Development: Work with capture teams to drive successful capture activities, ensuring alignment with ongoing program activities, goals, and strategies.

·Program Execution:  The ability to lead a team towards successful program milestones through resource management, prioritization, continual customer engagement and team support.  Providing continual balancing of tactical and strategic goals – both technical and financial.

·Customer intimacy: Consistently makes time to seek and incorporate input from customers and understand their expectations. Demonstrates commitment and energy to meet customer needs and develops key messaging for customer engagements. Builds strong relationships with strategic partners and key suppliers. Guides program team and support functions on how to take action to satisfy customer expectations. Also, partner with internal customers to meet their needs on delivering on programs across the NG portfolio.

·Long-term Risk and Opportunity Management:  Work closely with the programs to understand the long-term Risks and Opportunities for the deployment of maturing technologies.  Coordinate risk mitigation and opportunity enhancement strategies.

The Microelectronics Director will partner with programs within the Mission Next Division and contribute to their joint success transitioning new manufacturing technologies and sciences into successful missions.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·Draw on relationships with customer sets to fully understand the long-term missions and strategic goals in their sphere of influence

·Developing new business opportunities through long-term strategic planning, capture planning, and development of proposals and business plans.

·In alignment with internal investment and capital planning, develop and execute the long-term technology and process road map.

·Devise and implement strategies for ensuring the growth of programs enterprise-wide.

·Participating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions.

·Establishment and management of the program and subordinate baselines

·Measuring and reporting program performance

·Routinely evaluate the alignment of programs and potential system architectures to the customer strategies and business development efforts.

·Conducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization

·Managing suppliers to meet program objectives

Basic Qualifications:

·Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience or 8 years of related experience with Master's Degree.

·Minimum 8 years of management experience in Operations Management, Engineering Management, Functional Management, or Program Management

·Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead effectively in a team environment.

·Proven experience with customers in commercial, US government and defense industrial base

·Demonstrated program execution expertise

·Demonstrated Systems Thinking and customer strategy application.

·Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

·        Minimum active U.S. Government Secret (or DoE equivalent) with the ability to be granted a TS clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

·Education in a STEM field.

·15 years of experience in government program management or DOD

·10 years of management experience in Operations Management, Engineering Management, or Program Management

·Active PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

·Active TS clearance
