Job Overview

Public health at the University of Cincinnati is a dynamic, interdisciplinary field that spans across the College of Medicine, College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology. There are also a growing number of embedded concentrations and dual degree programs and initiatives spanning multiple colleges university wide. The new UC Center for Public Health unifies these efforts under a collaborative framework of shared governance. The Center serves as a central hub that eliminates fragmented efforts, streamlines decision-making, and fosters synergy among stakeholders. It will create a strong, cohesive identity for public health at UC, enhancing internal coordination, community engagement, institutional visibility, and national competitiveness.

The Center for Public Health is seeking a Program Director to support the strategic development and implementation of public health initiatives across the University of Cincinnati and the Center for Public Health.

Essential Functions

• Serve as a strategic administrative and operational partner to Center leadership by coordinating priorities, initiatives, meetings, communications, and follow-up activities and ensuring timely execution of key objectives.
• Facilitate communication and coordination across organizational units.
• Coordinate and support strategic projects and initiatives, including establishing timelines, monitoring progress, identifying issues, and ensuring timely completion of goals and objectives.
• Direct project teams and oversee group programs; provide instruction.
• Perform needs assessment by evaluating programs for quality, appropriateness of content and effectiveness of materials and make recommendations.
• Develop and write program materials, address inquiries, provide information and maintain records.
• Oversee budget, approve and monitor expenditures and prepare financial reports, and provide budget analysis and recommendations to support program and organizational decision-making..
• Develop and implement policies and procedures, and administrative processes to support effective and efficient program operations..
• Act as a liaison with internal departments, external entities, external stakeholders, and community organizations.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
• Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

• Bachelor's Degree
• Eight (8) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Trainings/Certifications

• N/A

Required Experience

• Four (4) years of experience in program development or business administration.
• Some positions may require one (1) year of supervision.

Additional Qualifications Considered

• Experience building and monitoring large grant budgets.
• Experience and building academic departmental budgets.
• Experience coordinating large corporate events (100 or more invitees).
• Experience working with faculty outside of the University of Cincinnati to coordinate speaker schedules and events.
• History working in public health.
