One full-time staff position for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is available in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This position will provide out-patient care for return Nephrology patients through morning sessions at UCMC and WC office sites. This position will also support our outpatient dialysis efforts across the tri-state area IN, OH, and KY.

The APP will provide comprehensive, continuous, and personalized patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations for all aspects of kidney disorders. Provide and facilitate the delivery of care for outpatient situations and perform independently or as part of a treatment team.

Essential Functions

  • Rounding on patients on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis or kidney transplant recipients across the tri-state area.
  • Independently manage a panel of nephrology patients, including clinical evaluations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and developing treatment plans in collaboration with supervising nephrologists as needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
  • Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioners and medical students.
  • Manage out-patient e-consult volumes as needed
  • Participation in the holiday coverage schedule is expected and will be coordinated equitably across the team

Nurse Practitioner

Required Education
  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.


Required Trainings/Certifications
  • Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
