Unit Context:

WBG Climate Department

The Climate Department enables the World Bank Group to deliver climate at scale across operations by providing the expertise, solutions, and platforms needed to integrate climate into projects, policy, and finance. It supports delivery of the World Bank Group Climate Action Plan, including alignment with the Paris Agreement and delivery of smart development solutions with climate co-benefits.

As climate is embedded across sectors and regions, the Department acts as a connector and service provider to teams, helping translate climate ambition into operational solutions, financing approaches, and country programs.

The Department is organized across two complementary functions:

Duties and accountabilities:

As a member of the Climate Director's front office team the Program Analyst has 4 sets of responsibilities. The Analyst is expected to utilize AI as much as possible in the delivery of those responsibilities.

Front office Workflow
• In coordination with the Special Assistant, support front office workflows to prepare briefing materials, correspondence, and reviews of operations and knowledge products.
• Originate, where appropriate, draft briefing materials, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.
• Coordinate KTCDR review of corporate documents with the KTC units, ensuring timely submission.

Knowledge Management
• Develop a knowledge management approach for the front office, with a focus on establishing and managing a front office filing system and document repository of standard responses, briefing notes and presentations.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of AI-enabled process automation solutions under the guidance of senior colleagues.

External Partnerships and Engagement
• Support the Director's external engagement by planning and coordinating mission travel, including to major events such as Climate Weeks and COP.
• Support the design and implementation of external and internal events that the Director participates in, including Spring & Annual Meetings, and including coordination of briefing materials.
• Oversee the procurement of services and vendor management and coordinate with regional counterparts, BPS, IFC, MIGA and IMF on cost-sharing arrangements and track expenditures of shared services.

Selection Criteria
• Minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated interest in climate, development, supported by relevant academic or professional exposure.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, research, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with qualitative and quantitative information, and large data sets.
• Ability to conduct research and analysis on difficult, but well-defined tasks; articulate issues and recommend solutions.
• Hands-on experience in seeking and synthesizing inputs across multiple sources, including own-managed research to craft succinct official WB responses to high-level internal clients and external partners.
• Strong experience with knowledge management and/or event planning.
• Knowledge of WB HR, budget, and travel rules and databases. Hands-on experience with complex event/project planning, service procurement and implementation.
• A clear understanding of the work programming, technical content and deliverables of KTCDR is highly desired.

Core Technical Knowledge and Skills:
• Excellent judgment and strong communication skills with the ability to prepare, present, and discuss findings verbally and in writing.
• Ability to quickly analyze data and data inter-relationships and make recommendations on process, system and control improvements.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn about utilizing AI for work processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and interact with staff at all levels.
• Proven ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines and possess attention to detail.
