Summary

Deliver secure and high availability infrastructure solutions supporting VA's mission. Serve as an operational service provider of foundational compute, storage, physical database, and client management components. Implement and sustain technical, management, and operational security controls and supporting processes to protect mission critical networks, systems, and applications throughout the VA enterprise.

Duties

  • Serves as a program manager with responsibility for implementing policies, directives, procedures and methods in support of programs managed by the Engineering Division.
  • Skillfully prepares project papers/staff reports and in organizing and delivering briefings to managers to encourage understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
  • Possesses knowledge and comprehensive understanding of numerous non-IT program areas such as facility operations, personnel management, and contracting.
  • Provides reports, evaluated information, budgetary proposals and similar products necessary for effective direction of program operations.
  • Obtains estimates, requests funding, tracks and manages funding requests such as Reimbursable Work Authorizations for GSA.


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Compressed/Flexible: Upon supervisor discretion

Telework: This position may be authorized for ADHOC telework.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices in the fields of project/program management, facility management, engineering, and IT management and principles. Able to apply analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of data center operations.


AND,

  • Selective Placement Factor: This position includes a skill, knowledge, ability, or other worker characteristic basic to and essential for satisfactory performance of the job. Selective Placement Factors are a prerequisite to appointment and represent the minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet it are ineligible for further consideration. The Selective Placement factor for this position is: Planner and strategist responsible for overall project management and technical advice to the Data Center Engineering Division. Provide highly technical expertise in multiple specialties or in multiple complex areas of project and program management. Assist with identifying improvement areas for the Engineering Division such as reviewing data center trends, standardizing processes, procedures, training, and other-program wide activities.
