Professional Liability Attorney - Legal and Accounting MalpracticeThis position offers a flexible, hybrid or remote working arrangement.The PositionWilson Elser seeks a client-focused Of Counsel or Partner-level attorney. This is a key leadership opportunity for a seasoned practitioner with a proven track record in defending legal and/or accounting professionals and firms, and a deep understanding of the legal, regulatory, and business challenges impacting the professions today. The ideal candidate will contribute immediately to our sophisticated practice, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and play a strategic role in firm growth.
Responsibilities- Serve as lead counsel in litigation involving legal and accounting malpractice, ethics proceedings, regulatory compliance matters, and other business disputes frequently encountered by accounting and law firms.
- Advise clients on risk management, ethics, licensing, partnership matters, M&A activity, and internal governance.
- Proactively manage a litigation caseload, helping oversee cases from beginning to end.
- Conduct legal research and analysis related to transportation laws, regulations, and legal standards.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients, demonstrating strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
- Manage and grow client relationships with a focus on strategic, long-term engagement.
- Work collaboratively across practice groups (e.g., cybersecurity, employment, commercial, and class actions) to offer comprehensive legal solutions.
- Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to business development initiatives within the practice and firmwide.
- Represent the firm externally through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and professional networks within the related industries.
Qualifications- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the State of California
- 10+ years of litigation experience; prior experience litigating and advising on issues affecting accounting and/or legal professionals and firms is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-party litigation and advise clients on sophisticated corporate and regulatory matters
- National-level experience and familiarity with class action and multistate matters preferred

This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Salary Range:
$200,000-$250,000 USD
