About the RoleThis role involves leading land development projects from initial design through permitting and construction, ensuring high-quality outcomes for clients. As a key member of the team, you'll manage projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the firm's success by maintaining high standards and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Design and prepare site construction drawings using Civil 3D, including site layout, parcel subdivisions, roadway profiles, grading, storm drainage, and utility service.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of work produced by unlicensed engineers and technicians.
- Monitor active projects, track submittals through local agencies, and address review comments.
- Manage contract administration, including proposals, scope revisions, change orders, and billing.
- Mentor and train less experienced staff.
Minimum Requirements- Active PE license (any state, with North Carolina reciprocity).
- Experience carrying land development projects from design through permitting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including corridor and 3D modeling.
- Experience in site design, subdivision layout, roadway alignment, and utility service.
- Experience managing project budgets and scope.
- Commitment to eastern North Carolina long term.
Preferred Qualifications- 10-20 years of post-graduate experience.
- Experience signing and sealing drawings, or readiness to do so.
- Experience directing CAD technicians or junior engineers.
- Residential and commercial land development background.
- Experience in design calculations and technical reports (Hydraflow, SSA, Excel).
Work Environment- On-site work in Eastern North Carolina.
- Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Friday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
- Minimal travel required.
