The
Product Operator is responsible for scheduling the movements of refined products through pipelines, terminals, marine, and third-party facilities while managing terminal tank operations and in-tank blending activities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant product movements, maintains inventory accuracy, coordinates product blending to meet quality specifications, and optimizes tank utilization to support trading and operational objectives.
Responsibilities:- Schedule pipeline, marine, and terminal product movements to meet customer and operational requirements.
- Coordinate product receipts, transfers, and deliveries with terminals, pipelines, carriers, and third-party operators.
- Monitor product movement schedules daily and adjust plans to accommodate operational changes, maintenance, or supply disruptions.
- Optimize transportation routes and timing to maximize asset utilization and minimize transportation/operational costs.
- Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and terminals regarding shipment status and operational issues.
- Manage daily tank operations, tank inventory, lineups, product receipts, transfers, and shipments.
- Develop and execute tank movement plans to maximize tank utilization while maintaining operational flexibility.
- Monitor available tank capacity and ensure sufficient storage for incoming and outgoing product movements.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee in-tank blending operations to achieve required product specifications.
- Monitor blend performance and troubleshoot blending issues to minimize product giveaway and off-spec inventory.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
- Support month-end inventory reconciliation and reporting activities.
- Maintain accurate operational records within the scheduling and inventory system.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance scheduling and blending processes.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 2+ years of commodities scheduling and relevant industry experience.
- Refinery planning and/or operations experience.
- Experience with Kinder Morgan Galena Park & Pasadena Terminals is a plus.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with an ability to build positive relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- The willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
