Job Summary:

Wholesure Inc., a division of Acrisure, is looking for an experienced Production Underwriter. The Production Underwriter is responsible for driving profitable growth through business development, relationship management, underwriting expertise, and placement of commercial insurance risks within the wholesale insurance marketplace. This role serves as a trusted partner to retail agents and carrier partners while developing and managing a profitable book of business. The Production Underwriter combines sales, underwriting, and relationship management skills to achieve production goals and deliver exceptional service.

Responsibilities:

1. Sales & Marketing (45%)

Business Development & Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with agents to generate new business opportunities and retain existing accounts.
  • Conduct agency visits, virtual meetings, networking events, and telephone prospecting activities to increase market presence and generate submissions.
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to identify client needs and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and trade functions.
  • Build and maintain a profitable, diversified, and high-quality book of business.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with carrier partners to maximize placement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal business units to identify cross-selling and referral opportunities.


2. Underwriting & Broking (45%)

Technical Underwriting Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal business submissions.
  • Prepare timely, accurate, and professional quotes and proposals within established service standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and market conditions.
  • Gather and evaluate underwriting information necessary for quoting, binding, and issuing coverage.
  • Review coverage requirements, pricing, terms, and policy conditions.
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with carriers and retail agents.
  • Prepare quality submissions to carrier markets.
  • Provide coverage consultation and technical guidance to agents.
  • Review loss information and risk characteristics to determine acceptability.
  • Maintain complete and accurate underwriting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, licensing requirements, and company procedures.
  • Stay current on industry trends, products, and market developments.


3. Agency Service & Operational Excellence (10%)
  • Coordinate policy servicing activities with internal support teams.
  • Respond promptly to agent inquiries regarding submissions, quotes, coverage, and policy servicing.
  • Assist in managing workflow to ensure service standards are achieved.
  • Support team initiatives and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Participate in mentoring and knowledge-sharing activities with less experienced team members.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of wholesale insurance underwriting, brokerage, or related commercial insurance experience.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and production underwriting.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles.
  • State insurance licensing as required.
  • Professional designations such as AU, CIC, CPCU, CRIS, or progress toward designation preferred.

Pay Details:

The base compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
