Focus: The Production Supervisor - Explosives is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations within an explosives manufacturing environment. This role places critical emphasis on strict adherence to explosive safety standards, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation practices. Responsibilities include development and leadership of personnel, maintaining controlled workflow processes, ensuring product quality and safety integrity, and fostering a disciplined, safety-first culture. The supervisor plays a key role in enforcing company policies, Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, and ATF regulations, while driving continuous improvement in high-hazard production operations

Production Supervisor - Explosives Job Functions:
  • Select, onboard, train, and develop employees with a strong focus on explosives safety, hazard recognition, and compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., ATF, DoD, OSHA). Communicate expectations clearly, administer recognition and corrective actions, and resolve personnel issues using data-driven approaches.
  • Enforce and uphold all explosives safety policies, operating procedures, and ethical standards. Foster collaboration within and between departments while maintaining strict adherence to collective bargaining agreements and regulatory requirements governing explosive materials.
  • Develop and manage tactical production plans within a high-hazard environment. Maintain strict control of workflow processes, explosive limits, compatibility requirements, and personnel exposure. Monitor critical control points, ensure compliance with quantity-distance (QD) requirements, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyze and respond to production and safety performance data, including incident reports, near-misses, and process deviations. Schedule and assign personnel with consideration to safety limits, establish priorities, and ensure all operations are conducted within approved safety parameters.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant, and controlled work environment by enforcing explosives safety standards, conducting regular safety briefings, and ensuring personnel are trained on proper handling, storage, and disposal of energetic materials.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety enhancements, process efficiency, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance within high explosives operations.
  • Responsible for safe delivery of pyrotechnics and assembled primers to manufacturing sites across all production shifts.

Production Supervisor - Explosives Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams, processes, or projects in a high-hazard manufacturing environment (explosives, ammunition, chemicals, or similar), with demonstrated success in driving safety and process improvements.
  • Working knowledge of explosives safety standards and regulations.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, enforce strict safety compliance, manage high-risk operations, and lead in a disciplined, procedure-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, quality control systems, and hazard mitigation practices specific to energetic materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and leadership skills, with the ability to influence a safety-first culture


Location-Specific Requirements:
  • Must have a valid US Driver's License
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. To meet the government-facility requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen.
