Position Summary:
The Fabrication Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely execution of fabrication operations. The position leads employees and coordinates people in a unionized environment, and utilizes equipment, materials, tooling, and processes to fulfil work orders for the parts required to build the planned units in accordance with the production plan.
Manufacturing or Engineering background preferred, with strong hands-on knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment. Experience with CNC machines, brake presses, laser cutting machines and laser machine programming, welding, grinding, drilling, forming, and related fabrication operations. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, routings, and bills of material, and to determine the appropriate sequence of fabrication steps. Working knowledge of dyes, punches, tooling, fixtures, and setup requirements.
Ability to troubleshoot machinery, tooling, and process problems and determine appropriate corrective actions. Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma knowledge preferred. Experience with safety programs, quality systems, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
The Supervisor works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Materials, and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve production issues, troubleshoot machinery and tooling, maintain workflow, and improve safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping. This role will report to the Plant Manufacturing Manager.
Major Accountability
- Responsible for quality and quantity produced in one or multiple production departments.
- Ensure safety, productivity, quality, and housekeeping goals are obtained.
- Ensure work orders are completed for the parts required to build the planned units in accordance with the production plan, while controlling labor, workflow, downtime, scrap, and material usage.
- Support new product introduction, fabrication process development, tooling and fixture implementation, machine programming.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate production activities, people, processes, and materials to complete production schedules.
- Lead, assign, and monitor workers as to establish work priorities and ensure adherence to work orders, drawings.
- Direct multi-functions in manufacturing as well improvements for one or multiple departments
- Monitor completion of work orders and parts requirements against the production plan; manage productivity, labor utilization, downtime, rework, scrap, and material usage
- Enforce safety procedures, PPE requirements, machine guarding, housekeeping standards, and applicable company safety-management-system requirements; promote a strong safety culture
- Verify availability and readiness of raw materials, components, consumables, dies, punches, tooling, fixtures, programs, and equipment required to maintain fabrication workflow.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Engineering Degree, Lean Manufacturing, New Product Introduction Process, CNC Machines Programming and troubleshooting, participate in internal and external corrective action process, ISO 9001 requirements, Safety, Team building.
Strong preference will be provided to candidates who posses:
- Manufacturing or Engineering background.
- strong hands-on knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment.
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications.
Nice to have:
- Experience with CNC Lath and Milling, brake presses, laser cutting machines and laser machine programming is a big Plus.
- Working knowledge of dies, punches, tooling, fixtures is a plus.
- Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma knowledge preferred.

Physical Demands: Good physical condition to stand and walk the production floor as well as to lift or move material

This role is 100% onsite, and our site location is 8251 Keele Street, Concord, L4K 1Z1. Salary Range: $75K - $90K / yrOperation hours: Monday - Thursday 7:30AM - 4:45PM & Friday: 7:30AM - 12:30PM
