About the Role:
The Production Supervisor leads a manufacturing team responsible for the assembly, integration, and testing of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical subassemblies for laser-based medical device systems. This role drives safe, compliant, and efficient daily production while partnering cross-functionally to resolve issues and improve manufacturing performance.
Work model & sponsorship:
This role is on-site and requires employees to work from our Carlsbad, CA facility during scheduled shift hours. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time.
Your Responsibilities will Include:
• Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing employees engaged in the assembly, integration, and testing of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical subassemblies.
• Coordinate daily production activities, staffing, work assignments, and priorities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
• Ensure manufacturing activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures, work instructions, drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and quality system requirements.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of assembly, test, equipment, material, and process issues in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality.
• Ensure employees are appropriately trained and qualified to perform assigned manufacturing operations and maintain required training records.
• Support nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and lead continuous improvement activities focused on quality, efficiency, yield, and waste reduction.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Planning to maintain production flow and support the introduction or transfer of new and modified products and processes.
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years' experience years of relevant manufacturing, operations, technical, or engineering experience.
• Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment or within an established quality management system.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage changing production priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience providing day-to-day leadership, work direction, coaching, or supervision within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical, optical, laser, or precision mechanical assembly.
• Experience with complex medical devices, capital equipment, or other highly regulated products, including knowledge of FDA regulations or ISO 13485.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, specifications, and manufacturing work instructions.
• Experience with precision assembly processes such as mechanical or optical alignment, torque-controlled assembly, electrical interconnections, soldering, or adhesives.
