Full Job Description
Position Summary:

As our Production Planner, you will be the vital link between customer demand, plant floor operations, and procurement. In this role, you will manage production scheduling and material flow within our Garden Grove manufacturing facility, taking responsibility for creating, optimizing, and maintaining master production schedules that maximize plant throughput and ensure on-time delivery to our customers.

Operating in a high-mix, regulated aerospace and defense environment, you will address complex capacity bottlenecks, resolve material shortages before they impact production, and drive continuous improvement within our ERP/MRP systems and planning workflows. As a senior-level contributor, you will bring strong analytical skills and crisis management agility to anticipate conflicts, balance resources, and keep operations running seamlessly.

This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) due to ITAR regulations.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in production scheduling, master planning, or material control in a high-mix or high-volume manufacturing plant environment.
  • Experience working under AS9100 or ISO9001 quality management systems is highly desired.
  • Technical proficiency with major ERP/MRP platforms (e.g., SAP PP/MM, Oracle SCM, Epicor, Infor) and scheduling software/APS tools; Syspro experience is a strong plus.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, Complex Formulas) or business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) for capacity modeling and scenario analysis.
  • APICS/ASCM certification is preferred (e.g., CPIM - Certified in Planning and Inventory Management, or CSCP - Certified Supply Chain Professional).
  • Solid understanding of Lean, Kanban, Just-In-Time (JIT) material flow, and Theory of Constraints (TOC).
  • Able to make rapid, data-backed decisions under pressure when unexpected material shortages, machine breakdowns, or rush orders occur.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively bridge priorities between Operations, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Program Management/Customer Service.
  • Exceptional quantitative and problem-solving skills to anticipate schedule conflicts before they reach the factory floor.

Are You Our Next ACE?
  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed finite daily and weekly production schedules for multiple production lines, work centers, and assembly areas.
  • Conduct rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP) and detailed line-level capacity analysis to balance labor, machinery, and material availability against sales forecasts and firm customer orders.
  • Partner daily with Production Supervisors and Operations Managers to review schedule adherence, address line stoppages, and re-sequence orders dynamically when disruptions occur.
  • Collaborate closely with Buyers and Procurement to ensure raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies arrive in-plant to align seamlessly with production start dates.
  • Optimize Safety Stock, Reorder Points (ROP), and Economic Order Quantities (EOQ) to maintain lean inventory levels while minimizing stockouts and line downtime.
  • Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) levels across the plant floor to prevent bottlenecks, control lead times, and optimize overall shop-floor flow.
  • Maintain master data integrity (lead times, bills of materials (BOMs), routing times, batch sizes) within the ERP/MRP system to ensure accurate scheduling logic.
  • Track, report, and drive improvement on core operational KPIs, including Schedule Attainment, On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery, Inventory Turnover, and Downtime due to material shortages.
  • Support Lean/Kaizen initiatives within the planning department, automating scheduling workflows, standardizing material replenishment strategies (e.g., Kanban/Pull systems), and reducing production lead times.
  • Ensure all supply chain processes and documentation comply with AS9100, ITAR, and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
