Job DescriptionMGS has an exciting opportunity for a
Production Manager to join our
MGS Richfield Manufacturing team.
As a
Production Manager at MGS, you will be responsible for managing all corporate projects and correspondence with customers and plant management for MGS Richfield.
Below are additional duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of a customer's project including tool builds (when sourced as part of the project), qualification, and production.
- Manages both budget and administrative responsibilities on assigned programs.
- Drive execution of projects for the integrated product development team (kick-off through first complete production run).
- Lead program reviews that provide appropriate status, costs, and risk management.
- Report program status to senior management monthly.
- Formally identifies, assesses, monitors, and mitigates risk throughout the program life cycle. Obtains management approval prior to making decisions that will cause deterioration of established program, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident. Seek senior management assistance in resolving schedule and budget problems as they arise.
- Perform variance analyses of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis and present them to senior management (i.e. earned value management system).
- Provide leadership to program team. Assures communication and cooperation among team members and resolves areas of conflict.
- Responsible for overall management of product launch into the production environment.
- Manage project material inventory effectively.
- Assure a timely closeout of completed programs to ensure that all obligations are satisfied and program documentation is properly recorded.
- Understand and develop leading versus lagging metrics.
- Develop and execute program corrective action strategies.
- Develop and understand principles of program planning (ex. developing Bill of Materials and Basis of Estimate).
- Understand lean and process improvement principles.
- Understand cash flow management principles.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, vision, and culture of MGS.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Experience and SkillsA qualified
Production Manager candidate would fulfill these requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in business or related field of study and/or 5+ years of program management experience.
- Knowledge of program management tools and procedures.
- Solid leadership and management skills.
- Experience throughout the program lifecycle from development through sustainment.
- A working understanding with practical application of MS Project.
- A working understanding of earned value principles, strong communication skills, proven track record of exceptional customer satisfaction, and the capability to provide leadership across cross-functional teams.
- Experience interfacing and leading other departments on a program.
- Experience with earned value cost accounting and reporting. Experience with metrics for assessing and reporting program progress, productivity, and variance analysis.
- Must have a portfolio of programs in which financial objectives were achieved.
- Experience with turnaround programs in which recovery was successful is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in managing manpower planning, project reviews, scheduling, and budget control.
- Successful track record in managing complex programs as a prime or sub contactor.
- Plastics injection molding background preferred.
- PMP certification is preferred.
