Compensation Range: $95,000 - 125,000 annually

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities within the machine shop and the weld & fabrication shop.
  • Lead shop floor personnel to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery targets are achieved.
  • Assign work orders and manpower based on production priorities, employee skillsets, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all required materials, drawings, tooling, and work instructions are available prior to job start-up.
  • Monitor workflow and production performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or operational issues as they arise.
  • Communicate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling departments regarding production concerns, material shortages, drawing revisions, and lead times.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Conduct daily supervision activities including attendance management, scheduling, overtime allocation, vacation coordination, and shift coverage.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to employees to support skill development and accountability.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and corrective action processes in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Support onboarding and training of new employees on shop procedures, welding standards, equipment operation, and safe work practices.
  • Monitor quality throughout fabrication and welding processes to ensure compliance with customer specifications, welding procedures, and company standards.
  • Assist with inspection activities including dimensional verification, weld quality checks, and completion of required production documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to productivity, workflow efficiency, quality, on-time delivery, and reduction of rework and overtime.
  • Review and maintain production records, time and attendance reporting, and other operational documentation as required.
  • Lead by example in maintaining professionalism, teamwork, and a positive shop culture.


Required Skills & Expertise:

Required:

  • Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, or welding environment.
  • Previous experience managing employee relations, attendance, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints from CAD systems.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes in a custom manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of welding and fabrication processes in a custom manufacturing environment.

  • Comfortable leading day-to-day shop floor operations independently.


Assets:

  • Previous experience in a custom fabrication or weld shop environment.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and visual manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ASME codes, N299 requirements
  • Hands-on welding or metal fabrication experience considered an asset.

  • Walking, standing, sitting, and repetitive hand / wrist / finger movements using keyboard on computer system

  • Office and Industrial environment: Noise, Weld fumes, weld flash, machining fumes, oils / dust, paint fumes, degreasers/grease, compressed gasses and metal filings
