Full Job Description
As Production Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in driving operational excellence at our Greensboro manufacturing facility.

This position is responsible for leading production operations, developing high-performing teams, optimizing plant performance, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Working closely with cross-functional partners, you will champion continuous improvement initiatives while supporting the plant's strategic and financial objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Lead safe, cost-effective manufacturing operations across production, shipping, maintenance, quality assurance, and supporting functions.
  • Manage production scheduling and ensure operational goals are met while communicating key performance results to leadership.
  • Monitor daily operational reports to evaluate cost center performance, scrap rates, overtime, material usage, and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations, fostering a strong culture of workplace safety.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Sales, Corporate, and other stakeholders to address customer requirements and resolve operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize equipment repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and reliability improvements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and hourly team members through training, performance management, and employee development initiatives.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts to drive operational performance and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, equipment utilization, and overall resource effectiveness.
  • Drive accountability for quality, productivity, cost control, and operational excellence across the facility.


What You Bring

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, including at least 1-2 years in upper-level supervision or management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, manufacturing equipment, operational processes, and financial controls.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and engage teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with QAD, MRP systems, or SAP is preferred.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in refractories, ceramics, or related industrial manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment requiring both office-based and plant-floor engagement.
