POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for complete oversight of appropriate electrical power distribution systems, circuit breakers, controllers, motors, switches, and all associated electrical equipment during the construction of sea going vessels. The ideal candidate for this role will also be required to assist in the development of relationships with all elements of project management. Through a collaborative effort with all other crafts, this position will require the ability to continuously develop strategies for efficient processing of all electrical outfitting activities and systems on marine and non-marine related projects. In addition, this position will oversee the employees (varies from 3-60 person crew) on various types of projects and ensure proper installation of such equipment occurs in the safest and most cost effective and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job's overall responsibilities.)
- Understand, promote and adhere to a Safety First culture by following and enforcing safety guidelines and requirements at all times; understanding and properly utilizing the appropriate personal protective equipment for each situation.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of AC/DC theory, cut in, hook-up, termination, grounding & bonding as well as applicable testing equipment and methodologies.
- Assist planning & estimating department in the review of specifications and bid estimates for upcoming new projects.
- Ability to interpret metrics and make appropriate changes to positively impact outcomes.
- Provide guidance to the electrical section of advance planning to ensure all material is identified, ordered, received and kitted to support each project. This includes building work packages for electrical work.
- Read and understand schematics at an advanced level.
- Build, develop, and manage to a schedule for the purpose of meeting milestone objectives. This includes resource loading the work to be performed.
- Evaluate existing in-house electrical capabilities and recommend changes; additions or reductions. Examples: programming, panel construction, switchboard design, electrical engineering, and console design/construction.
- Utilizing the input of all other crafts, develop plans and schedules to include all items for the electrical outfitting of marine vessels which will be incorporated into a master production schedule and ensure milestones are met.
- Possess the ability to create a complete bill of material (BOM) based on drawings, effectively communicate with appropriate entities to clarify contract specifications to ensure appropriate equipment and material have been identified.
- Partner with the purchasing department to ensure materials are ordered on time to keep the production schedule on track.
- Build positive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients, etc.
- Interact with design engineers to ensure proper placement of materials and to clarify installation issues.
- Develop, implement and maintain equipment start up procedures to validate proper operation of systems at the completion.
- Create acceptance sea trial procedures as well as coordinate with regulatory bodies for all systems on classed and un-classed vessels as well as the same for all non-marine related projects.

It is essential that there is an effective ability to properly interact simultaneously with all levels of the leadership staff regarding operating matters.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: This position maintains a variety of significant relationships and must be able to determine the appropriate level of communication and interaction for various situations. The ability to effectively influence decisions through respectful interactions with others both within the Company and with external contacts is essential in this role
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Thorough knowledge of marine electrical power distribution systems, electrical systems as related to installation, wiring, terminating and testing.
- Must possess the ability to oversee electrical equipment installation of lighting, panel boards, power distribution panels, generators, wire ways, cable installation and tagging; strong leadership experience and the demonstrated ability to achieve results by teaming with and positively influencing others
- Confidence and good judgment to accept and thrive in the challenges of an evolving organization
- Computer skills which includes mastery of MS Excel, Outlook, and Project as well as intermediate skills of Auto CAD.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 10 years' experience in new construction or repair of vessel electrical outfitting (power generation, control and distribution, advanced electrical troubleshooting, electric motors, test equipment usage, grounding and bonding, cable - identification, size requirements and ampacity limits, fabrication and installation of packing tubes, multiple cable transits, collars, conduit and raceways).
- Ability to work independently and under high pressure.
- Must have a working knowledge and appreciation for Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Experience in senior supervision or leadership role of some kind.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands for this position are exposure to loud noises, frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping and crawling in confined spaces. This position will need to have familiarity with computers for keyboarding and office software applications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a wide variety of environments including heights of 20 feet or more, small and/or confined spaces, and outdoors in all weather conditions. Will routinely bend, twist, kneel, walk, climb, and reach for 1-12 hours per day. Will sit, stand, and walk for 1-12 hours per day. Will endure noise, fumes, dust, and inclement weather.
Must be able to lift and carry 1-80 lbs throughout the day. Must be able to push or pull up to 75 lbs and safely wear a respirator when needed.
Must have the ability to perform the essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of employee or others.
