Production Manager - Food Manufacturing

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in food manufacturing to oversee daily operations at our Mira Loma facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production flow, maintaining high-quality standards, and leading a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership, deep knowledge of food production processes, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

The Production Manager also ensures compliance with SQF and Food Safety procedures, enforces safety rules, and maintains a clean, safe, and efficient production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer demand and maximize efficiency.
  • Lead, supervise, and support production teams to meet output and quality targets.
  • Drive safety initiatives, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance management for production staff.
  • Participate in month-end inventory counts, including one Saturday per month.
  • Monitor production processes and identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with QA, logistics, procurement, and other departments to align production with customer and delivery requirements.
  • Assist with investigations related to contamination, safety incidents, or employee concerns, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update training documents to support employee development.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and implement effective, sustainable solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
  • Deep understanding of food manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality standards.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret KPIs, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency with production planning tools and ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing, including 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in the tortilla industry is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, production processes, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Senior-level leadership and team-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production planning software.
  • Background in high-volume, fast-paced food production environments.
