About The Role - Production Manager (Carseland, AB, Canada)

Lead one of North America's most critical continuous manufacturing operations. Join the Carseland Site Leadership Team and influence the safety, reliability, performance, and future growth of a facility producing approximately 500,000 metric tonnes of ammonium nitrate each year. You'll lead a team of operational leaders, drive major improvement initiatives, and help shape the future of one of Orica's most important manufacturing sites.

As the Production Manager, you will lead the Ammonium Nitrate Production Area at the Carseland Manufacturing Site, delivering operational excellence through strong safety leadership, people development, process reliability, and continuous improvement. As a key member of the site leadership team, you will play a critical role in ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and sustainably while contributing to the long-term success of the operation.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a large-scale 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation, develop and mentor future operational leaders, and influence strategic decisions that impact site performance, customer fulfillment, and business growth. You will work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Capital Project teams to maximize plant reliability, improve operational effectiveness, and successfully implement key improvement initiatives across the site.

What you will be doing
• Champion a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
• Lead daily production activities to ensure products are delivered safely, on time, in full, and to quality standards.
• Drive productivity, quality, and cost performance across the production line.
• Collaborate with maintenance and technical teams to prioritize and deliver maintenance plans, shutdowns, and reliability initiatives that maximize plant
• performance.
• Manage operating costs and contribute to the financial performance of the product line.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Maintenance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Commercial teams to meet customer and business objectives.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to optimize processes, enhance efficiency, and improve business outcomes.
• Contribute to broader operational excellence initiatives through collaboration with peers and participation in communities of practice and best-practice forums.
• Lead, coach, and develop frontline leaders and production teams to achieve outstanding safety, operational, and engagement outcomes.
• As a key member of the Carseland Site Leadership Team, this role serves as a critical leadership position within the site and may act on behalf of the Site Manager when required.
• Lead operational readiness, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of capital and infrastructure improvement projects across the production area.

Key requirements include:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Operations Management, or another relevant technical discipline.
• 8+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years leading teams in a manufacturing or operational environment.
• Success in leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and engagement.
• Experience leading operations within highly regulated, process safety, or major hazard environments is preferred.
• Proven ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and align diverse stakeholders.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, cost management, and performance optimization.
• Experience leading operational improvement and change initiatives that deliver measurable business results.
• Experience in continuous manufacturing, chemical processing, refining, petrochemical, mining, metals, or other heavy industrial environments is highly desirable.
