Full Job Description
Job Summary

The Production Manager manages third-party external on-location and in-studio productions on behalf of the client. This is not a people management role. It functions more in a line producer capacity, with responsibility for productions, vendors, and workflow rather than for direct reports. Reporting to the Operations and Special Projects Lead and working alongside a Producer team, this role coordinates both internal and third-party crews, opens and manages POs, and maintains budget oversight across all productions. The ideal candidate brings an established network of crews and vendors, is fluent in remote and truck-based production, and can quickly assess and translate third-party needs into action, deploying internal resources effectively to support external shoots. This role acts autonomously as the client's representative in the field, performing discovery on in-progress productions, flagging issues in real time, and rolling up their sleeves on-site when the production demands it.

What You'll Do:

External Production Management
  • Serve as the client's primary representative across all third-party and on-location productions, acting autonomously to ensure executional standards are met
  • Perform discovery on in-progress external productions, quickly assessing crew, logistics, and technical needs and reporting findings and issues back to the client in real time
  • Maintain an encyclopedic awareness of ASG's resources both full-time and flex that are available to be engaged for these productions
  • Align directly with third-party producers to ensure seamless coordination between outside crews and internal resources
  • Travel to external shoot locations as needed (approximately 25%), rolling up sleeves to support or operate on-site when the production demands it
  • Translate third-party production language and requirements into actionable plans that reflect the client's standards and resource capabilities

Crew & Vendor Coordination
  • Source, book, and manage external production crews for on-location and remote shoots
  • Leverage an established network of crew, vendor, and equipment contacts to staff productions efficiently and at the appropriate level
  • Coordinate internal crew deployment in support of external productions, with a strong understanding of available resources and how to activate them
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for crew questions, conflicts, and on-site challenges

Budget & Procurement
  • Open and manage POs for all external productions, maintaining accurate budget tracking from pre-production through wrap
  • Monitor spend across active productions, flagging variances and working proactively to stay within scope
  • Evaluate vendor relationships and support procurement decisions that balance quality, cost, and turnaround
  • Ensure all production resources are confirmed and in place ahead of each shoot day

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Report directly to the Operations and Special Projects Lead, providing regular updates on active and upcoming external productions
  • Partner with the internal Producer team on pre-production planning, logistics, and post-production wrap
  • Represent the client professionally in all third-party engagements, maintaining clear and proactive communication at all times
  • Contribute to process improvements that reduce friction and strengthen the external production workflow

What You'll Bring:
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously
  • Calm, decisive, and solutions-oriented under pressure
  • Experience working within a Managed Services or embedded team model is a plus
  • Familiarity with remote streaming technology, broadcast software, and studio operations systems
  • Flexibility to work weekends and adjusted hours as production demands require
  • Strong business acumen and a solid understanding of how to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing client relationships
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities
  • Basic understanding of project financial parameters
  • Ability to thrive in a service-oriented culture

Required Education and Experience:
  • 4+ years of production management experience in a live broadcast, live streaming, or live studio production environment. Candidates without direct live production experience will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-discipline production crews in a fast-paced, live setting
  • Strong working knowledge of live studio and remote production workflows, including control room operations, audio, and technical broadcast infrastructure
  • Proven ability to build and manage crew schedules, production budgets, and procurement processes

Bonus Points:
  • Experience in managed services or embedded teams
  • Familiarity with project management platforms such as Airtable, Trello, or Monday.com is a plus
  • Experience working in SharePoint for production tracking and billing management is a plus
  • Familiarity with remote streaming tech, broadcast software, and studio ops systems
