Oxford Solutions is seeking an experienced Production Field Engineer to support coalbed methane production and water operations throughout the Central Appalachian region. This position combines production engineering, field leadership, contractor oversight, and environmental compliance.
The Production Field Engineer will analyze well performance, identify opportunities to improve production, and help oversee field operations across a large portfolio of producing wells. Approximately 70% of the position will be spent in the field, primarily supporting operations in Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Review production data and type curves to identify trends and optimization opportunities
- Recommend and implement strategies to improve well performance and production
- Support water logistics and other day-to-day production activities
- Direct and coordinate contract well tenders and field personnel
- Establish performance expectations and monitor contractor productivity
- Promote compliance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA, state, federal, and environmental regulations
- Monitor field locations, access roads, equipment, and related infrastructure
- Assist with daily production reporting and investigate performance deviations
- Use automated and digital systems to improve field data collection and operational efficiency
- Coordinate materials, parts, purchase orders, requisitions, invoices, and vendor activities
- Track operating expenses and monthly budgets related to contractors and vendors
- Collaborate with production, gas control, midstream, drilling, well servicing, electrical, and other operational teams
- Respond to changing field conditions and operational needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of oil and gas field experience
- Experience supporting production operations; coalbed methane experience is a plus
- Strong leadership and contractor-management abilities
- Knowledge of field safety, environmental compliance, and production best practices
- Ability to interpret production data and make timely operational decisions
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel to remote well sites and safely navigate off-road terrain and steep grades
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and provide occasional night, weekend, or holiday support
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple teams
Schedule and Work Environment
- Approximately 70% field-based and 30% office-based
- Regular travel to remote production locations throughout the Virginia operations area
- Outdoor work in varying terrain and weather conditions
- Occasional after-hours support based on operational needs
