About the role
Job Summary
The (Mechanical) Engineering Specialist is responsible for researching, designing, and developing mechanical systems and components. This role applies advanced engineering knowledge to support the development and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
This job profile is intended for specialist professionals that apply advanced knowledge of a job area. Required to manage projects / processes independently with limited supervision. Typically coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.
1. Serves as technical specialist in one or more of the following areas:
Vane Department
Blade Department
Combustion Department
Gas Turbine Rotors
Houston Aero
2. View parts immediately upon arrival. Visually inspect and inventory as required.
3. Work with Gas Turbine Inside Sales Representative during the quoting process.
4. Ensure that job work order releases are prompt and in order. Become completely aware of sales efforts and goals for the job.
5. Become completely aware of the customer requirements for the job, including technical requirements, hold points, and delivery.
6. Ensure that job work scopes are complete and correct. Ensure that the job work scopes are promptly issued to the Production Supervisors.
7. Ensure that all job work scopes contain all pertinent information with regards to procedures, prints, tolerances, and critical dimensions.
8. Order all material/parts required to complete each job. Ensure that material/parts are expedited as required for timely delivery. Production Engineer is responsible for the quality of the material supplied.
9. Review any challenging issues with Division Superintendent and/or Engineering. All first time jobs must be reviewed by Superintendent and Engineering.
10. Work together with Production Supervisors to establish schedules for production that ensure on-time deliveries.
11. Work together with Production Supervisors to optimize, refine, and streamline production work-flow and all of its effects.
12. Constantly monitor/check the following items on all working jobs. Review these items with the Component Division Superintendent on a weekly basis.
• Job cost
• Delivery status
• Quotation status
13. Responsible for job coordination and tracking profitability.
14. Attend weekly production meetings.
