Full Job Description
The Production Engineer is responsible for maximizing production performance, minimizing downtime, and improving recovery across unconventional assets. This role works closely with field operations and cross-functional technical teams to identify optimization opportunities, execute well interventions, and implement data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with operational ownership to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective production results.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Optimization & Surveillance

  • Monitor, evaluate, and standardize well performance surveillance to identify trends, degradation, and optimization opportunities

  • Lead implementation of cash-flow-focused optimization initiatives, including operating parameter changes, debottlenecking, artificial lift optimization, and cost structure improvements

  • Co-lead cross functional engagements with reservoir to effectively forecast well performance and support proactive intervention planning

2. Well Operations & Artificial Lift Management

  • Plan and execute production operations and well intervention including scopes of work, AFEs, and detailed well programs for workovers, recompletions, and routine maintenance

  • Design, select, and optimize artificial lift systems (rod pump, ESP, gas lift, plunger lift), including equipment sizing, failure analysis, operating envelope definition, and life-cycle cost optimization

  • Evaluate and apply emerging technologies to enhance well performance and reliability

3. Failure Analysis, Cost Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Diagnose root causes of equipment and well performance failures and implement corrective actions through structure analysis.

  • Track, forecast, and manage LOE and capital expenditures to meet budget and KPI targets and proactively understand variance to expectations.

  • Drive continuous improvement through standardization, best practices, and data-driven insights to support planning, execution, and post-job evaluations.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration, HSE & Reporting

  • Collaborate with reservoir, geology, completions, drilling, and facilities teams to align production strategies to maximize asset cash flow.

  • Support completion and flowback optimization through early-time production analysis and feedback

  • Ensure compliance with all HSE, regulatory, and company standards

  • Prepare and present clear, data-driven recommendations to leadership, communicating risks and value

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline

  • 5+ years of production engineering experience (unconventional experience preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of artificial lift systems and well intervention design

  • Proficiency in production data analysis and engineering software tools

  • Demonstrated ability to manage field operations and cross-functional projects

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Work Environment

  • Combination of office-based analysis and regular field interaction

  • At least quarterly travel to field locations required
