Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
KLA is seeking a Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Engineer (P3) to support product safety and regulatory compliance activities for semiconductor equipment within a product division.
This role focuses on execution of safety assessments, regulatory compliance, and certification activities, ensuring tools meet applicable SEMI standards, CE marking requirements, and global regulations.
The engineer will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate safety into product design and support certification efforts from development through release.

Key Responsibilities
Product Safety Compliance & Certification Support
• Support tool certification activities for assigned products.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with:
• SEMI S2, S8, S10
• IEC 60204-1 / NFPA 79
• EU Machinery Regulation / Machinery Directive
• EMC Directive (2014/30/EU), Low Voltage Directive
• Contribute to CE marking documentation, including:
• Risk assessments
• Technical file inputs
• Declaration of Conformity support

Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment
• Perform hazard analyses using established methods:
• FMEA / FMECA
• PHA / HAZOP (with guidance)
• Identify hazards and recommend risk reduction measures aligned with SEMI S10 and ISO 12100.
• Support safety validation activities and documentation.

Design & Engineering Support
• Partner with engineering teams to:
• Review designs for safety compliance
• Support integration of safety features into systems and subsystems
• Participate in design reviews and change control processes to maintain compliance.

Certification & Testing Coordination
• Support coordination with third-party certification bodies (e.g., TÜV, UL, CSA).
• Assist in preparation for:
• Safety evaluations
• EMC and electrical testing
• Track and help close audit findings and corrective actions.

Incident Investigation & Data Analysis
• Support investigation of safety incidents and SIRs.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and mitigation planning.
• Analyze safety-related data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Documentation & Training
• Prepare and maintain:
• Safety analysis reports
• Test documentation
• Safety-related sections of manuals
• Support delivery of product safety training under guidance from senior staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in product safety, compliance, or related engineering field
• Basic understanding of:
• SEMI S2 or similar industrial safety standards
• CE marking framework and applicable directives
• Familiarity with hazard analysis techniques (FMEA, HAZOP, etc.)

• Experience in semiconductor equipment or industrial machinery
• Exposure to:
• ISO 12100 risk assessment
• Functional safety (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061)
• Experience working with certification bodies or compliance testing

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
Base Pay Range: $136,300.00 - $231,700.00 Annually
Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
