Job Description

The Product Owner, Data Warehouse is responsible for owning specific projects involving our central data repository, cloud infrastructure, and supporting operating processes. The Product Owner works closely with key business stakeholders to define and convey business needs to the data engineering team, ensuring that our data platform is scalable, accurate, and accessible. This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for owned data products in production and plays a critical role in our ongoing mission to provide a platform of centrally available, trusted data used across software, analytics, and other business functions. We are looking for a candidate who is technically / functionally curious, highly organized, and possesses the SQL skills necessary to validate complex data logic independently.
  • Requirement Lifecycle: Gather, clarify, and document detailed technical requirements, including data mapping, transformation logic, and schema definitions.
  • Product Validation: Verify that delivered data products meet business needs through rigorous testing and SQL-based validation.
  • Backlog Management: Maintain a prioritized and groomed product backlog; translate stakeholder requests into actionable user stories for the engineering team.
  • Agile Facilitation: Support agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, release planning, and sprint reviews.
  • Project Tracking: Track all projects on detailed timelines to meet deadlines, managing the product lifecycle from scope definition to QA and launch.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular updates on project status, risks, and dependencies.
  • SLA & Maintenance: Ensure enhancements are delivered with high quality and on time; maintain existing projects to ensure they meet agreed-upon Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Production Support: Support the Product Operations team regarding escalated production support concerns and clear communication around product releases.
  • Documentation: Support and create technical user documentation, data dictionaries, and training materials for end-users.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a product evangelist for the data warehouse, helping internal teams understand how to leverage available data assets.

Qualifications
  • Strong Technical Skills: Not a developer, but must be able to investigate technical issues and perform data profiling independently; strong competency in SQL and database concepts are a must.
  • 2+ years of experience in requirements analysis, working directly with stakeholders and developers (or 2+ years combined experience in data engineering, analytics, or technical writing).
  • Healthcare Data Fluency: Able to describe typical sources of healthcare data (ex: Claims) and understand the nuances of healthcare datasets.
  • Agile Proficiency: Experience working with "Agile" methodologies, tools, and practices.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to use technical support data, reports, and ad hoc investigations to identify, triage, and document the impact and resolution of a problem.
  • Compliance: Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations regarding the handling of sensitive healthcare data.
  • Independence: Willing and able to solve problems and drive projects with minimal oversight.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

The salary range for this role is $90,000.00-$110,000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and pet insurance, 401K, paid time off, and other wellness programs). This role is also eligible for an annual bonus targeted at 15% . The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.
