Operating within an agile development environment, the Product Owner prioritizes work, refines requirements, supports sprint and release planning, and ensures features are delivered in alignment with product objectives, technical considerations, and delivery commitments.

The role serves as the primary product representative for the assigned domain, collaborating with clients and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, validate requirements, and continuously improve product functionality. Success in this role requires strong domain expertise in data platforms and analytics, sound product judgment, and the ability to balance customer value, technical feasibility, and execution priorities to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery:

  • Partner with a lean engineering team in a fast-moving agile environment to drive sprint execution and deliver high-quality product capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to support day-to-day execution - including regular collaboration with engineering, sales, and clients.
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and participate in PI planning and release planning activities to maintain delivery momentum and minimize blockers.
  • Evaluate and recommend backlog priorities and execution trade-offs in partnership with engineering, balancing customer value, technical constraints, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure release readiness through proactive coordination with Engineering, Data Engineering, QA, Infrastructure, and Design teams

Client Collaboration & Requirements Management:
  • Serve as the primary product representative for all of Nexius Data Platform clients, building strong relationships and ensuring customer needs are reflected in backlog priorities.
  • Participate in client meetings and limited on-site visits to gather requirements, validate functionality, and demonstrate new product capabilities.
  • Translate customer feedback and business needs into actionable product requirements, ensuring data consolidation, reporting workflows, data model coverage, integrations, and self-service analytics capabilities are accurately represented in the backlog.
  • Communicate product updates, upcoming releases, and roadmap priorities clearly and effectively to clients and internal stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Data Engineering, Design, Infrastructure, Customer Experience, Sales, and Professional Services to align delivery timelines and manage cross-functional dependencies.
  • Serve as the primary product representative for the assigned data platform domain during planning sessions, release planning, and cross-functional working meetings.
  • Collaborate with adjacent product teams to coordinate source-system integrations, data pipelines, dimensional models, BI Hub capabilities, reporting solutions, and delivery sequencing.
  • Present, demonstrate, and document product functionality for internal stakeholders and external clients.

Domain Expertise & Technical Problem Solving:
  • Apply strong knowledge of data platform concepts, including ETL/ELT pipelines, CDC, batch and near-real-time ingestion, dimensional data modeling, and data quality controls, to refine product requirements and support solution design in partnership with engineering.
  • Decompose complex business and client requirements into structured, technically feasible, and scalable product solutions.
  • Consider downstream data model, integration/infrastructure and client impacts when prioritizing and sequencing backlog items to support reliable product delivery.
  • Resolve data workflow and integration challenges through close collaboration with engineering, leveraging knowledge of Snowflake-based data warehousing, BI Hub, Power BI, APIs, Snowflake Shares, and ODBC connectivity.

Product Performance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Define success metrics for delivered features and monitor post-release performance to ensure alignment with product objectives.
  • Drive client adoption, sales enablement, and Go-to-Market readiness
  • Drive continuous backlog refinement and product improvements based on customer feedback, usage data, adoption metrics, and business priorities to enhance product quality and client value.
