Full Job Description
This position reports to:
Product Marketing Director

ABB is seeking a Product Marketing Manager for its Distribution Solutions-ANSI Grid Components product portfolio including Outdoor Breakers, Reclosers, Cutouts, Switches, Instrument Transformers, Sensors, Test Switches for the US market. The Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the portfolio strategy across all market segments, channels, and specific target accounts, focused on the utility and C&I segments, distribution channel, market trends, competitive landscape, and go-to-market strategy. In this role PMM will coordinate all marketing activities according to the Business Line strategy for Grid Components.

Role objectives must be accomplished within prescribed time frames and include achieving target order volumes, improve margin levels as specified by product line, increasing market share, and support creation of industry leading customer experience. In addition, this role is a leadership position requires competencies leading, managing and coaching direct-reporting product marketing specialist members and other partner functions to deliver assigned business and behavioral performance targets. Candidates must be experienced in creation and management relationships with key customers and external influencers.

Preference will be for candidates able to work a hybrid schedule in Cary, NC, but will be open to candidates working remotely within the Eastern or Central Time zones (#LI-Remote).

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Strategy / Business Planning: Creates, plans and ensures implementation of the local go-to-market product marketing strategy including definition and communication of product value propositions and product positioning in accordance with the global product marketing strategy. Develops and implements marketing plan in conjunction with Sales and relevant Business Lines. Prepares business plans focused on business development for US market. Coordinates market analyses with Product Marketing team and Sales team members and defines appropriate forecasts and plans. Evaluates and shares customer research, market conditions and competitor data.
  • Value Proposition Management: Partner with product sales, product management, segment marketing, marketing communications, marketing and sales leaders among others to develop customer solutions. Specifically, responsible for the development of marketing strategies, key value proposition messages and associated content for marketing collateral, presentations, web content, digital sales applications, customer references, sales kits, etc.
  • Customer Engagement / Segmentation / Targeting / Positioning: Defines prioritized customer conversion targets and owns follow-up to ensure integration goals are met. Provides input to segment marketing on go-to-market strategies, content, sales enablement, and digital tools. Researches and analyzes market and customer data to identify trends, issues, and other relevant information to determine specific requirements, attitudes, effects of current and potential market conditions and regulations that may affect product marketing strategies. Provides support and recommendations for campaign strategies and related communications.
  • Program Management: Leads and manages commercialization efforts of multiple programs, including VOC and product launches. Coordinates with product management team, providing market and customer needs to maximize product and price positioning. Builds and sustains relationships with launch partners and end-users.
  • Sales Partnership: Oversees sales execution for assigned products by coordinating the preparation of relevant materials and guidance to Sales. Provides product, application and technical support to Sales.
  • Customer Relations and Satisfaction: Drives strong relationships with new and existing customers, in partnership with Sales, to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction. Serves as the leader for 'voice of customer' for the assigned product lines into the manufacturing facilities and business lines. Develops and implements product support and product training to ensure high customer satisfaction. Drives continuous improvement on Net Promoter Scoring.


Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer), MBA preferred
  • 10+ overall years of experience in product marketing and/or sales, product management
  • Proven analytical skillset
  • Ability to demonstrate change management and organizational alignment
  • Strong people leadership skills
  • Exceptional internal and external communications skills written and oral
  • Experience in managing strategy mobilization
  • Experience in engagement with senior management organizations both internally and externally
  • Candidates must already possess authorization to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $142,500 and $228,000 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
