The integration of E*TRADE’s Banking Services provides significant opportunities for growth and further integration across the franchise. In this regard, the Morgan Stanley U.S. Banks seek a talented and motivated Assistant Vice President to join the Retail Banking Product team within the Deposits & Cash Management organization.

The Morgan Stanley U.S. Banks (Morgan Stanley Private Bank, National Association and Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A.) offer a range of deposit and cash management products for Morgan Stanley clients across various channels. The team is responsible for retail banking products that help clients hold, access and manage their cash, including the E*TRADE Max-Rate Checking Account and the Morgan Stanley CashPlus Brokerage Account. Within Morgan Stanley, these products are part of the Transactional Deposits product suite. Deposit growth is also an important strategic initiative among other responsibilities.

We are seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial and detail-oriented Assistant Vice President to join the Retail Banking Product team within Deposits & Cash Management, specifically supporting ongoing product enhancements and new initiatives across the retail banking and cash management product suite.

The ideal candidate is passionate about building high-quality products and continually improving existing client experiences. This involves working on products from initial concept through product launch and beyond. The individual will be expected to take ownership of initiatives, structure complex problems, align stakeholders and drive work from initial concept through execution. This role encourages collaboration and is well suited for an individual who can operate effectively across functions while taking ownership of outcomes.

Day-in-the-life of a Retail Banking Product Manager could include (but is not limited to):

  • Manage existing products and lead projects and new initiatives to increase adoption across various channels

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams with representatives from Digital Platforms, Technology, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Compliance and Finance to launch and implement new initiatives

  • Partner with Digital Platforms colleagues to develop requirements, test their implementation and deliver elegant experiences for Bank clients that lead to broader and deeper deposit relationships

  • Maintain rigorous project management discipline to ensure key tasks and deliverables are well documented and tracked; proactively identify risks, dependencies and roadblocks and drive them to resolution; provide clear readouts on progress in large stakeholder forums

  • Analyze product trends and report on regional and nationwide performance of various products

  • Develop key performance indicators and track progress; partner with Technology to improve and deepen reporting

  • Prepare analyses for senior management and succinctly communicate key findings, recommendations and insights

  • Analyze competitive strategies across the industry and identify implications and opportunities for our products

  • Draft internal, Financial Advisor and client-facing communications and collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop and implement retail banking and cash management product strategy

  • Support Financial Advisors, Private Bankers and the Client Service Center in the sales of retail banking and cash management products and the resolution of any escalated client issues

  • Maintain and update policies and procedures as needed to accurately reflect changes and enhancements to retail banking and cash management products

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in Product Management, Banking Services, Technology, Strategy, Consulting or a related field; experience in Banking Product Management is a plus

  • Understanding of digital products and customer experiences; familiarity with retail or private banking products, economics, the rate environment and market trends is a plus

  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-stakeholder products and projects and driving initiatives from problem definition through implementation

  • Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems, evaluate potential solutions and develop clear recommendations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field. Liberal arts degrees are also welcomed

Skills/Abilities:

  • Self-starter who is able to work independently on multiple tasks; efficient time management skills and attention to detail a must

  • Analytical and strategic thinker who is able to tackle unstructured problems with limited guidance

  • Adaptable team player who is willing to learn new concepts quickly and efficiently

  • Able to define and evaluate strategies and business use cases

  • Strong product intuition and user empathy

  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, influence across stakeholders and drive complex initiatives forward without direct authority

  • Great presentation and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to put together cohesive, senior management-ready decks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
