Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 1 year of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc).

Preferred qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in technical product management.
  • 2 years of experience in a role preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership.
  • Experience with deploying machine learning models in production, including quality evaluation and policy design.
  • Experience with geospatial datasets or large, complex datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage product roadmaps, and deliver high-quality products on schedule.
  • Comfort with SQL, Python, and self-directed data analysis.

As a part of the Basemap Data team, the Speed Limits Data Product Manager delivers data products that power search, navigation, and orientation use cases across Geo and Google.

In this role, you will be focused on extending the road network to include detailed speed limits data, enabling use cases such as adaptive cruise control with Auto OEM partners, as well as speed limit alerts in navigation. Your role involves working closely with engineering, operations, and client experience teams to design the end-to-end systems needed to enable speed limits features. As a part of this role, you will take on critical short and long-term deliverables, where you will get to learn a lot about the geospatial market and how to build data that scales.The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to deliver scalable systems powered by AI and Operations that bring detailed lane and intersection data to use cases across Consumer and Auto surfaces.
  • Define enterprise-grade quality standards for the signs and speed limits data product, ensuring we can continue to meet user needs as the world changes.
  • Identify and integrate new data sources, such as vehicle sensor observations, driving telemetry, users reports, and imagery to maintain a fresh map of the real world.
  • Drive the prioritization and development of new features that increase the level of detail of the signs and speed limits offering.
  • Lead market research on both consumer and Auto offerings to influence the data roadmap.
