Job Overview

The Product Manager is responsible for the overall strategy, lifecycle management, profitability, and growth of assigned product lines. This role provides business leadership and develops strategic plans to achieve revenue, market share, margin, and customer satisfaction objectives. The Product Manager identifies market opportunities, drives innovation, and leads the development and commercialization of new products while optimizing existing product portfolios.

Working closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain, the Product Manager develops and executes product strategies that align with business objectives and customer needs. This role serves as the voice of the customer within the organization and is responsible for translating market insights into actionable product and growth initiatives.

A Day In The Life

Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
  • Develop and execute product line strategies, roadmaps, and annual business plans to achieve growth and profitability targets.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle, including market assessment, product development, launch, growth, optimization, and end-of-life decisions.
  • Evaluate product performance and recommend enhancements, cost improvements, line extensions, or rationalization opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory requirements, emerging technologies, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.


Customer & Market Insights
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert and business leader for assigned product lines.
  • Gather and analyze Voice of Customer (VOC), market research, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to guide strategic decisions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, channel requirements, and end-user applications.
  • Collaborate with customers, channel partners, and sales teams to identify unmet market needs and business opportunities.


New Product Development & Commercialization
  • Lead cross-functional new product development efforts from concept through launch and post-launch evaluation.
  • Define product requirements, business cases, value propositions, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure successful product development, launch readiness, and lifecycle support.
  • Drive innovation initiatives that strengthen competitive positioning and deliver customer value.


Financial & Business Leadership
  • Own product line financial performance, including sales, revenue, margin, pricing, and profitability.
  • Develop forecasts and business cases to support strategic investments and product decisions.
  • Monitor costs, pricing, market conditions, and profitability metrics while recommending corrective actions when needed.
  • Support annual operating plans and long-range strategic planning activities.


Sales & Marketing Support
  • Develop product positioning, messaging, promotional strategies, and sales enablement tools.
  • Provide product training and expertise to sales teams, channel partners, and customers.
  • Support key customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and market development activities.
  • Partner with Marketing to create compelling customer-facing content and launch campaigns.


Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Communicate product strategies, priorities, performance results, and market trends to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Service.
  • Drive alignment and accountability across teams to ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives.


Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)
  • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to manage demand forecasting, inventory planning, and capacity requirements.
  • Communicate significant demand shifts and product strategy changes to support operational planning and execution.
  • Utilize forecasting and business analytics to improve planning accuracy and customer service levels.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of product management, product marketing, marketing, engineering, or related business experience.
  • Experience gathering and utilizing Voice of Customer (VOC), market research, and competitive intelligence.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills.


Preferred
  • Experience within the Electrical, Construction, Industrial, Building Products, or Consumer Products industries.
  • Experience leading new product development and commercialization programs.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management, pricing strategy, and portfolio management.
  • MBA or advanced business degree.
