Full Job Description
Opportunity

You will directly own the roadmap and execution for parts of Boom's products. You will report directly to the Chief Product Officer, and work closely with the Co-founders (CEO, CTO), engineering team, UX designers, and QA team. You'll need to be able to toggle between deep detail (e.g. user experience flows, payment flows, technical documentation) while keeping the broader business strategy and product direction in mind. This role is a great fit for someone who is highly-organized, works well cross-functionally, and wants to ship real products and features; it's not a great fit for someone who wants to do market analysis, benchmarking, slide decks, etc. Lastly, in this role you'll be involved in senior-level company decisions and work closely with a talented team from places like BCG, Amazon, Grubhub, Eco, and others. Given the seniority of the role, this role is based in Austin with our leadership.

What you'll do
  • Create and maintain the product roadmap (alongside the CPO, CTO and CEO)
  • Own and report out on key product analytics metrics and stay close to marketing analytics metrics
  • Write business requirements, wireframes (for design) for product requirement docs, and release notes; working closely with engineering and other cross-functional stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary interface with design
  • Lead all product handoffs/releases
  • Lead, alongside the Chief Product Officer, external product communication (feature launches, user guides, API docs, FAQs, email communication, etc.)
  • Become a domain expert - deeply understand customers, competitors, vendors, industry trends, etc.
  • Support Boom's customer discovery, and translate learnings into new features, refinements, or new product pilot sprints (which you will also lead)
What you'll need
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience with at least 2 years as a product manager
  • Experience at an early stage venture-backed company
  • Experience working with data (e.g. able to manipulate Redash queries or SQL)
  • Experience working with Figma + strong bias to get to rough visuals as fast as possible
  • Strong bias to action with an ability to conceptualize and plan
  • Strong communicator and writer (e.g. you have plenty of past writing samples such as product releases or PRDs)
  • Other table stakes stuff - analytical ability, attention to detail, organization skills, personable demeanor, competitive spirit
  • Preferred: Technical background / computer science degree (our stack includes React Native, Ruby, JavaScript, Postgres)
  • Preferred: fintech or proptech background
Benefits of working at Boom
  • Competitive salary with stock options
  • Full healthcare coverage (health, dental, vision) including 50% coverage for dependents
  • 15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year + 3 sick days + all US federal holidays (11 in total) (note: we think unlimited PTO is BS and causes some employees to feel guilty when they take it)
  • Company-issued laptop/MacBook
  • Company-sponsored training & development
  • Regular off-sites, retreats, and other company-sponsored events and travel opportunities
