Department OverviewThe ASTRO Systems Product Management team has end-to-end ownership of the ASTRO systems product portfolio, including Core, Consoles, RF Site and System Management. The team is responsible for business cases, product definition & requirements, planning, value propositions, key selling points, success metrics, launch and sunset of assigned products. The product managers work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, supply chain, marketing, sales and finance for the definition, on time delivery and profitability of products.
Job DescriptionThe RF Site Product Manager will lead the process responsible for the vision, strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for assigned RF Site products including closely interfacing with customers and internal stakeholders. The product manager is the person responsible for defining the 'why', 'what,' 'where', and 'when' of the products that the development team will build. They are the owner of their product -- which means they lead cross-functional teams from a product's conception through to its launch.
The product manager should possess deep industry expertise necessary to analyze market and competitive conditions and lay out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on customer demands. The role of the product manager spans many activities from strategic to tactical and provides cross-functional leadership - bridging gaps within the company between different functions, especially between development, sales, marketing, support and finance.
Product management responsibilities include:Product StrategyThe product manager is responsible for setting a product vision and strategy. Their job is to clearly articulate the business value to the product team so they understand the intent behind the new product or product release. They own the strategy behind the product along with its roadmap and must work with development to define, prioritize and build what matters.

Product ReleasesProduct managers must plan for what their teams will deliver and when they will deliver it. The product manager owns the HW and SW release aspects of the product. Release responsibilities include managing HW and SW features and dependencies in and across releases, product and support teams; and managing releases with phases and milestones.
- Establish vision and goals for releases
- Define market offer and structure
- Work with enablement organizations to make products orderable and deliverable
- Define and support implementation of training, support and deployment requirements
- Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
- Coordinate overall release project and schedule
Product VisionCollecting, curating, and promoting the most relevant ideas into features. Defining which ideas should be promoted to features to achieve key objectives for the product line and business. Soliciting feedback and requests from customers and field teams and ensuring this is seamlessly integrated into the product planning and development processes.
- Consistently gather customer and sales feedback
- Perform 'Voice of Customer' research to ensure their needs are understood
- Evaluate success of launched initiatives and adjust strategy as necessary
Feature DefinitionThe product manager defines the features and requirements necessary to deliver a complete product to market and lead the product team to success. They are responsible for articulating the 'why' and 'what', working with go to market to determine the 'where', and working with development to determine the 'when'.
- Create epics, initiatives, user stories and scenarios
- Direct, negotiate and approve hardware and software development plans
- Define acceptance criteria, KPIs and SLAs
Go-to-market SupportResponsible for making product decisions and often is the lead resource for the rest of the organization when deep product expertise is required. This includes supporting the organizations that help bring the product to market by working directly with internal stakeholders including marketing, sales, training and support services.
- Facilitate sales and channel training
- Assist pre-sales with custom project requests
- Define and ensure implementation of GTM assets including demo environments, training materials, and presentations
- Demonstrate new pre-release features
Additional Qualified Skills:- Thorough knowledge of Motorola's ASTRO or competitive Project 25 (P25) systems including Conventional and Trunked systems, deployments and components
- Experience validating market problems based on industry experience and contact with customers and stakeholders
- Experience gathering customer feedback and research
- Technical acumen to communicate effectively with development engineering and technical end users
- Strong ability to lead through influencing others within and outside of the organization
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Polished presentation skills for external and internal audiences including customers and leaders
Desired:- Product level financial modeling via Excel, Google Sheets or Tableau (preferred)
- Experience with North American Public Safety & Federal markets
- Familiarity with P25 RF Site subsystem components including base stations and comparators
- Firm understanding of software design & user interaction
- Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems
- Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback
- Strong ability to take complex user requirements and distill them into a format that can be understood by developers as well as non-technical staff
- Ability to research and analyze product requirements from various stakeholders
- Ability to understand market trends, financial data, and customer needs and assess competitive intelligence data
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment

Target Base Salary Range: $106,500 - $153,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Basic Requirements- Bachelor's Degree degree OR 5+ years of experience.
- 3 + years progressive, relevant technology experience in: Product Management, Product Marketing, Field Service, Field Engineering or Development Engineering
