Overview

Based in Redmond, Washington, the AI, Assistance and Automation Platforms team within Microsoft Digital is seeking a Product Management Manager to lead the strategy, planning, and delivery of AI-powered assistance and automation experiences used by Microsoft employees. In this role, you will guide a team of product managers responsible for understanding user needs, identifying opportunities, and translating insights into product direction, priorities, and roadmap investments.

You will collaborate across engineering, service engineering, design, and business stakeholders to define and deliver solutions that support productivity, usability, and operational effectiveness. This role requires balancing customer needs, business priorities, and technical considerations while fostering alignment across multiple teams. Success will be measured through customer adoption, business impact, operational outcomes, and continuous improvement of the employee experience.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
  • Define and drive the product strategy, priorities, and roadmap for AI-powered assistance and automation platforms and experiences.
  • Lead a team of product managers responsible for identifying opportunities to apply generative AI, intelligent assistants, automation, and related technologies to support employee, developer, and IT administrator experiences.
  • Guide the collection and synthesis of user feedback, research findings, usage insights, and business needs to inform product direction and investment decisions.
  • Establish frameworks and processes for translating customer and business needs into prioritized product capabilities, requirements, and roadmap plans.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and platform leaders across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and related organizations to align priorities, manage dependencies, and support cohesive end-to-end user experiences.
  • Partner with engineering, design, research, and business stakeholders to define, deliver, and evolve products and services throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work with engineering and service engineering teams to support the delivery and operation of reliable, secure, and scalable capabilities, while monitoring product health and customer outcomes.
  • Communicate product strategy, priorities, progress, and results to stakeholders and leadership, fostering alignment and informed decision-making across organizational boundaries.
  • Build and develop a high-performing product management team through coaching, mentoring, talent development, and effective management practices.
  • Drive cross-functional planning, prioritization, and execution to balance customer needs, business objectives, technical considerations, and operational requirements.
  • Define success measures and review customer adoption, satisfaction, operational effectiveness, and business impact to inform future roadmap decisions.
  • Contribute to product management practices, frameworks, and standards that support consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement across the organization.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people management experience.
  • 6+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
  • 8+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
  • 8+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g.,. competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
  • Tenured experience in product management, program management, engineering, or a related discipline, with a record of leading complex product portfolios or platforms.
  • Demonstrated success defining vision, shaping strategy, and delivering products or platforms that drive measurable customer and business outcomes.
  • Knowledge of current product management practices, including product discovery, experimentation, customer research, prioritization frameworks, product analytics, and outcome-based road-mapping.
  • Experience with AI-powered, assistance, or automation experiences.
  • Effective communication and cross-team leadership in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Experience building or scaling AI-enabled products, including practical understanding of large language models, copilots, recommendations, automation, agentic patterns, and other intelligent user experiences.

Product Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $165,600 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
