Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role PurposeCorning is a global leader in materials science, specialty glass, and optical communications - enabling the infrastructure that connects people, data, and industries worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Product Line Specialist to lead the strategic management of our Single-Mode Fiber Ultra (SMF-Ultra) and Preform optical fiber product lines. This role drives profitable growth through product strategy, lifecycle management, and cross-functional leadership - spanning commercial, manufacturing, technology, supply chain, and finance teams from preform manufacturing through finished optical fiber products.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute product line strategies and lifecycle management plans, including new product requirements, extensions, and enhancements aligned with business and profitability goals
- Monitor and manage financial performance - including revenue, pricing, margins, inventory health, and forecasting accuracy - and build business cases to secure leadership alignment on new initiatives
- Partner with supply chain, manufacturing, technology, and commercial teams to balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and inventory levels while minimizing business risk and product obsolescence
- Collaborate with customers and commercial teams to identify emerging market needs, evaluate growth opportunities, and create value propositions that support effective customer engagement, including direct customer interaction when required
- Lead new product launches and enhancements as project or commercial lead; monitor competitive market dynamics and develop strategies to strengthen Corning's market position
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience influencing cross-functional teams and driving business results.
- Strong analytical skills including financial analysis and a detail-oriented approach to process rigor.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to present and sell ideas effectively.
Desired Qualifications- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Experience in project management, supply chain, or profitability analysis
- Technical understanding of optical fiber, cable, or related photonics technology
- Knowledge of fiber and cable market dynamics
- Operational experience in manufacturing or supply/demand planning
- Experience presenting business cases to senior or executive leadership
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $100,646.00 - $138,388.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
