Product Lead (Devices)Location: Los Angeles, CA (Onsite)
Compensation: $120,000-$145,000
About the RoleThe Hardware Product Lead (Devices) owns SprintRay hardware products end-to-end-from concept through mass production. This is a highly technical, hands-on product role for someone with a strong engineering background (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) who can translate complex technical constraints into clear product decisions.
You will act as the single accountable owner for assigned hardware products, driving execution across engineering, manufacturing, firmware, regulatory, and go-to-market teams. You will lead EVT/DVT/PVT, partner closely with China manufacturing, and ensure products ship on time without compromising quality, performance, or reliability.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering rigor and product judgment. You are fluent in hardware development details (DFM, tolerances, power systems, thermal considerations, manufacturability) while balancing timelines, cost, user needs, and business priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Own hardware product execution from concept through mass production, including roadmap delivery, schedules, milestones, and risk management
- Serve as the single product owner for assigned hardware platforms, accountable for technical, schedule, and quality outcomes
- Partner with Mechanical, Electrical, and Firmware Engineering to define requirements, resolve design tradeoffs, and drive technical decisions
- Lead EVT/DVT/PVT planning and execution, including test strategies, validation plans, and production readiness
- Collaborate with China-based manufacturing partners on DFM, tooling, production ramp, quality control, and yield improvements
- Work closely with Device Software Product Specialist to align firmware behavior, power management, connectivity, and system performance
- Partner with Industrial Design and UX to deliver intuitive, clinically appropriate products while respecting engineering constraints
- Interface with Regulatory and Quality to support risk assessments, testing requirements, and compliance activities
- Use field data, telemetry, service feedback, and failure analysis to drive continuous reliability and design improvements
- Identify and resolve cross-functional technical blockers across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and supply chain
- Communicate clear product status, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership; escalate early with options and recommendations
- Manage hardware product lifecycle, including backward compatibility, hardware transitions, and end-of-life planning
- Support product launches in partnership with Marketing and Sales, including positioning, packaging, pricing inputs, and adoption support
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar)
- 3-5+ years of experience in hardware engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical product roles
- Strong technical fluency in electromechanical systems; able to review CAD, schematics, tolerances, and DFM considerations
- Hands-on experience with full hardware development cycles (EVT/DVT/PVT, tooling, production ramp)
- Manufacturing knowledge across processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, or PCB assembly
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality, Design, and Operations
- Data-driven problem solver who leverages test results, field data, and root cause analysis to guide decisions
- Clear, concise communicator who can translate technical complexity into actionable product tradeoffs
- Bias for action; comfortable making decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Preferred Qualifications- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics
- Experience in medical devices, dental products, consumer electronics, robotics, or precision hardware
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing, 3D printing, optical systems, or imaging devices
- Exposure to firmware, embedded systems, or connected/IoT hardware
- Experience working directly with China-based manufacturers and suppliers
- Verbal fluency in Chinese
Travel- 20-30% travel, including China manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customer observation visits
