Overview

Who we're looking for

Toyota's TBMNC Central Tech department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Product Engineering Manager.

The primary responsibility of this role is to plan, develop, and lead the product engineering department to ensure product quality and safety, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and driving innovation to meet customer/market demands.

The person in this role will support the department's objective to support the manufacturing and design teams in producing the highest quality product to exceed our customer's expectations.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead and mentor a team of product engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Support product lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
  • Work closely with product design and manufacturing teams to align product development with business goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring best practices in design and development.
  • Implement and maintain processes to ensure products meet industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets; monitor progress and adjust as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and customer feedback to inform product development strategies.
  • Analyze product costs and work to optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop the team's organization in alignment with department and TBMNC company mission and vision.
  • Set strategic direction to ensure our in-house processes meet all design / process control specifications to ensure TBMNC's product exceeds our customer expectations.
  • Support creation and execution of department hoshin to support the achievement of company KPIs.
  • Support creation and execution for world class training, team member experience / environment to attract and retain top engineering talent.
  • Lead / support true root cause / countermeasure implementation to eliminate defect recurrence.
  • Collaborate closely with other groups to promote a strong kaizen culture to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.


What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or similar field
  • Product engineering and/or process engineering experience
  • Design evaluation experience, such as DRBFM, DFMEA, etc.
  • Process evaluation experience, such as QAN, PFMEA, etc.
  • Test method development and implementation experience
  • Leadership experience, as a supervisor with direct reports or Toyota lead engineer
  • Project management experience, including milestone management and KPI tracking (text)
  • Hoshin (annual plan) management and execution experience
  • Technical problem-solving and analytical experience, utilizing PDCA, RP, RC/CM, etc.
  • Experience with CAD software and product design tools, including the ability to read, interpret and modify drawings
  • Experience in product development for high-volume manufacturing operations


Added bonus if you have
  • Master's degree in related technical or business field
  • Battery product development / manufacturing experience
  • Cross-functional work experience across quality, manufacturing, engineering, maintenance
  • Management experience, with responsibility for direct reports in quality control, manufacturing or engineering
  • DOE development and implementation experience in high-volume operations
  • 3 Pillar management experience
  • NAMQSR or ISO deployment, execution, or sustainment experience.
