Job Purpose

Supports critical Product Engineering activities for Nuclear Facility battery applications and outside-sourced battery products. This role provides engineering support to ensure continued compliance, product reliability, documentation accuracy, and effective technical coordination for business areas with high complexity, growth potential, and liability exposure.

The position supports nuclear-related battery requirements, outsourced lead-acid battery programs, European Battery Regulation-related design responsibilities, drafting activities, ERP support, and cross-functional technical execution. This role also provides needed backup and talent development for specialized engineering activities currently supported by limited resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports engineering activities for batteries used in Nuclear Facility applications.
  • Assists with compliance to customer, regulatory, technical, documentation, and quality requirements associated with nuclear battery applications.
  • Supports engineering coordination for outside-sourced batteries, including outsourced lead-acid battery products.
  • Works with internal teams and external suppliers to support technical requirements, documentation, product changes, and design responsibility needs.
  • Supports activities related to European Battery Regulations and other applicable battery requirements.
  • Provides engineering input for product documentation, specifications, drawings, bills of material, ERP data, and product records.
  • Supports drafting-level design activities, product updates, and technical documentation changes.
  • Assists with review and maintenance of outsourced battery designs, configurations, and technical records.
  • Supports root cause analysis, corrective actions, customer inquiries, supplier questions, and field issue resolution as needed.
  • Partners with Engineering, Quality, Product Management, Purchasing, Operations, Sales, Service, suppliers, and customers to support business requirements.
  • Provides backup support for specialized nuclear and outsourced battery engineering activities.
  • Helps develop and retain internal knowledge related to nuclear battery applications and outsourced battery products.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may coordinate technical activities with cross-functional teams, external suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Up to 25 percent domestic and international travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering, applications engineering, systems engineering, product management, project engineering, or technical program leadership.
  • CAD and Solidworks (3D cad) expereince.
  • Experience with industrial products, batteries, chargers, power electronics, energy storage systems, electrical systems, material handling equipment, or related engineered solutions.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, engineering change processes, validation testing, quality improvement, and manufacturing support.
  • Ability to translate customer needs and business requirements into technical product specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a global business environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Product Management, or related field.
  • Experience with motive power batteries, lithium-ion systems, TPPL batteries, flooded lead-acid batteries, battery management systems.
  • Experience in material handling, warehousing, logistics, transportation, industrial fleet operations, or ground support equipment markets.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, stage-gate development, root cause analysis, or corrective action processes.
  • Knowledge of applicable battery, charger, electrical, safety, environmental, and industrial equipment standards.
  • Experience leading direct reports, matrixed teams, or global technical projects.
