Corning's Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Role Purpose:

Product Engineer providing technical leadership of filter and substrate products for automotive industries. The role maintains the division's global product specifications and manages internal and external change requests in a manner that maximizes Corning's value proposition and supports the achievement of the division's product line goals. The person manages process to evaluate customer and internal requests for product related changes. The role will focus on working closely with Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams to align technical work with product requirements, business priorities, and customer needs. The person is expected to have broad technical skills, strong product-development judgment, and the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Strong presentation and communication skills are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with development, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and the customer to ensure the division's global product specifications meet the needs of all parties
  • Proactively identifies and resolves customer issues and assists applications engineers in delivering high quality product support and customer issue resolution
  • Assesses the impact of proposed processes, material, or design changes on product performance and works with applications engineering to ensure the transparency of these changes to the customer
  • Gathers prioritized customer product requirements from customer-facing organizations as input to the division's global product specifications and to justify quality architecture
  • Lead projects to implement effective processes that improve business practices
  • Translate technical learning into product specifications, process windows, qualification plans, and manufacturing transfer requirements
  • Develop product roadmap aligned with internal plan and external requirements


Experiences/Education - Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree - technical field; master's degree desirable
  • 5+ years of work experience in related field
  • Ability to define product requirements, evaluate performance trade-offs, and connect material/process variables to customer-facing product attributes
  • Strong data analysis skills and ability to use experimental results to guide design decisions, qualification plans, and product readiness
  • Experience with planning and executing experiments in a team environment
  • Ability to strategize and think critically about product-development pathways, technical risks, scale-up needs, and manufacturability and cost


Experiences/Education - Desired:

  • Experience with product qualification, reliability testing, and performance validation for advanced materials or optical components
  • Expertise in Solid works for product drawings and designs
  • Broad understanding of ceramic processing technologies and how they influence product design, cost, yield, and scalability
  • Structured problem-solving techniques, applied statistics, and design of experiments for product-development decision making
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, process control, and transfer of new products into production

The range for this position is $96,254.00 - $132,349.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
