We are seeking a skilled and motivated Product Development Engineer to join our team. As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and launch of automotive components. Position Detail:- Project Leadership: Plan and lead the product development process, providing regular project status updates.
- Requirements Management: Review customer and internal technical requirements, preparing the requirement manual.
- GD&T Expertise: Apply General Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles effectively.
- Feasibility and Risk Assessment: Control product feasibility and conduct design-FMEAs.
- Tolerance Investigations: Investigate tolerances and develop dimensioning concepts.
- Prototype Supervision: Plan and supervise prototype builds, tests, and experiments.
- Validation Planning: Review test specifications and prepare the Design Validation Plan (DVP).
- Design Issue Resolution: Provide engineering knowledge to identify and resolve design issues.
- Cost Optimization: Support value analysis and develop cost reduction concepts.
- Engineering Documentation: Release product drawings and manage engineering changes.
- Supplier Assessment: Assist in the technical assessment of suppliers.
- Quality Compliance: Ensure design compliance with internal and external quality standards.
Position Requirements:- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred).
- Experience: Product Development Engineering experience in the automotive industry, including product launch.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, FEA, and PLM software.
- Ability to evaluate product concepts and propose solutions.
- Experience with PTC Windchill or a similar PLM system preferred.
- Knowledge of metal forming and joining processes (aluminum extrusion, hot stamping, cold stamping, welding).
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work between Grand Rapids and Holland, MI locations.
