Full Job Description
Who You Are

You're a thoughtful, curious designer who thrives at the intersection of clarity and complexity-someone who sees change as a design opportunity. You're seasoned enough to know the right way to do things, but you're excited by the possibilities presented by AI to reimagine software from the ground up.

You're deeply collaborative-you value feedback, continuous learning, and clear communication. You bring humility to your work, care to your craft, and a genuine desire to help small businesses succeed with confidence-especially in moments of transition or uncertainty.

Above all, you believe in building with care and intention. You sweat the details not for perfection's sake, but to ensure your work contributes to a product that just works.
About the Role

At Justworks, Product Designers play a pivotal role in shaping how small businesses interact with our platform-ensuring that every touchpoint feels intuitive, human, and built with care. As a member of the Experience Design team, you'll help create cohesive, accessible, and empowering product experiences that make complex tasks feel simple.

Whether you're designing workflows that help business owners onboard new employees, contributing to our design system foundations, or reimagining internal tools that support our customer service teams, your work will directly impact the lives of people who rely on Justworks to run their businesses with confidence.

You'll work embedded in a cross-functional mission team alongside product managers, engineers, and researchers-contributing to the full product development cycle, from discovery to delivery. With a strong sense of craft and a focus on real human needs, you'll create experiences that reflect Justworks' belief in doing right by small businesses and our commitment to being a relentless advocate for our customers.
Your Success Profile

As a Product Designer, how results are achieved is as important as the results themselves. Success in this role is anchored in the following competencies:
  • Customer Focus: Advocate for user needs and balance these with business constraints, grounding design in insights and data.
  • Systems thinking: Design across connected steps and decisions, rather than isolated features.
  • Craft excellence: Deliver high-quality, polished work that aligns with the Justworks brand and design system guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with partners in Engineering, Product, Data, and Research to shape and deliver solutions.
  • Communication: Use artifacts and storytelling to build shared understanding and guide team decisions.
  • Adaptability: Stay grounded in user needs while flexing approaches to meet evolving context or constraints.

In addition, all Justworkers focus on aligning their behaviors to our core values known as COGIS. It stands for:
  • Camaraderie - Day to day you can be seen working together toward a higher purpose. You like to have fun. You're an active listener, treat people respectfully, and have a strong desire to know and help others.
  • Openness - Your default is to be open. You're willing to share information, understand other perspectives, and consider new possibilities. You're curious, ask open questions, and are receptive to thoughts and feedback from others.
  • Grit - You demonstrate grit by having the courage to commit and persevere. You're committed, earnest, and dive in to get the job done well with a positive attitude.
  • Integrity - Simply put, do what you say and say what you'll do. You're honest and forthright, have a strong moral compass, and strive to match your words with your actions while leading by example.
  • Simplicity - Be like Einstein: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler."
