Full Job Description
Overview
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Product Compliance Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary Product Development team responsible for developing novel fuel cell-based systems for hydrogen production, carbon capture, and power generation applications. The Engineer in this position will develop and execute compliance programs while working with engineering teams to guide design and fabrication decisions that will ensure FCE products achieve the applicable regulatory approvals for our intended global markets.

Responsibilities:
  • Research code requirements for various global markets relevant to fuel cells, hydrogen production equipment and related process, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Prepare compliance plans outlining schedules, test plans, resource planning and cost estimates.
  • Participate in product development meetings to ensure design decisions made are consistent with identified certification requirements.
  • Communicate design information with certifying bodies, understand and discuss specific standards to ascertain impact on product design, fabrication and test requirements.
  • Review engineering design documentation including PFD's, P&ID's, mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings, specifications, BOMs and plant site layouts.
  • Establish test programs, oversee or conduct witness testing, evaluate findings, recommended design and process changes to resolve non-conformances.
  • Monitor established products undergoing engineering change processes to identify and act on design changes requiring re-assessments to ensure ongoing compliance with certification requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of approval processes, test and certification records.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate certification requirements and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Schedule meetings and lead discussions with PowerPoint presentations while taking action items.
  • Participate in Continuous improvement processes, continually stay abreast of changes in the compliance arena for our intended markets.

Qualifications:
Education: B.S. Engineering required, M.S. preferred, or related field.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

Required Experience and Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of design, engineering, and manufacture of industrial process equipment.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical test procedures, instrumentation and calibration requirements.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledgeable of quality control systems such as ISO 9001
  • Organization and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and take initiative on projects.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills to work effectively with others in sharing ideas and scientific findings.
  • Experience drafting test procedures, analyzing data, and presenting results.
  • Knowledgeable of major industry codes and standards such as ANSI, ASME BPVC, NFPA relevant to fuel cells, mechanical and electrical balance of plant equipment.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills with an attention to detail.

Working Environment/Working Conditions:
  • Desk work using a computer, at home and office as needed.
  • Meetings occurring on-site and via virtual means (Teams, Zoom, etc.)
  • This position is located indoors and requires the ability to move between separated rooms within the same building. While working at FCE's facilities, covid-19 safe practices in place, which include social distancing, face mask wearing, and other protocols.
  • Occasional work outdoors in a power plant environment during test activities. Performs occasional field or in-house test work.
  • Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required.
  • Travels (5%) domestically and/or internationally. Travel via car and/or commercial airlines
  • Must have or be able to obtain a passport.


The pay for this position ranges from $100,000 - $110,000.
